I want to watch a movie that will scare the socks off of me. A month or so ago, I found out about how scary Paranormal Activity was, so I called my friend and we decided to go. Little to say, it was a big disappointment. I sat in the theater waiting for the scary part to come but it never came. My friend laughed throughout the whole movie (I guess she found it funny). I already knew what the ending was going to be because someone ruined it by telling me(grr). We both agreed it was a waste of money(thank goodness she bought the tickets). I love the Saw and Final Destination series, but I don't find them scary, I find them disturbing. I remember not too long ago I just wanted to laugh, but now I just want to be scared...Ever felt like that.

Some good scary movies are the Freddy Krueger series, Nightmare on Elm Street is the actual title. I like watching them when I need a good scare. If you want some more recent scary movies, try Dreamcatcher based on the Stephen King novel. I'm like you, most so called scary movies don't really scare me anymore. I did enjoy the movie District 9, even though its not scary. Its more a conspiracy theorist movie. If you enjoyed the X-Files series, you should enjoy this movie.

Hmm Dreamcatcher. I'll have to watch that one. (Stephen King has some good movies). District 9 was very good and interesting, even thought it isn't scary.

I would have liked the ending, but some loser ruined it for me after I specifically asked them not to tell me. Oh well, life moves on.

I love scary movies and not the Horror movies which have lot of Gore scenes. I hate a lot of blood and murder in disgusting way. As you said the final destination movies, they really are disturbing, I remember being disturbed for a whole week after watching it, I still remember some of it's bad scenes(in fact each of the deaths are bad). I enjoy the movies with super natural spirits like the ones in The Ring, The Grudge , One missed Call etc. I enjoyed being scared by them. I know many will not find it scary but I get scared very easily and I love it Usually I watch it alone at night on my PC but nowadays I have stopped watching them at night as I am unable to sleep that night then. In short I have never been disappointed after watching a scary movie. I have always got scared

Horror movies don't scare me. But I'm scared when I watch war movies, mafias movies, gangster conflict, or something like that. Having a match with a tough opponent sometimes scared me too.

Yes those movies are great. I am not exactly scared but I feel a lot of energy flowing within me when I see that bad side loosing and the good side winning! I even do the act of punching when the villain gets Hit by the hero Lol

If you want to be scared, you'd better watch some Japanese thriller. Do you know some movies such as"The Grudge"or "The Ring"?I was scared a lot after watching and dared not open my eyes when Isleep.By the way,you can watch"The Shining"which revolves a family leaving in a luxious hotel alone. This film is marked as director Stanley Kubrick's most classical work.

I've only seen the Grudge 2, does the American version count? My brother has The Ring, (american also). I want to watch the Japanese version because I heard they are scarier. The Shining was a great movie, I haven't seen it in a while though.

I haven't found a truly scary movie in a very long time. Seems that now most of what they call "scary" is just as you described. Gory and disturbing. I haven't seen paranormal activity. I heard mixed reviews on that. Actually the last time I was truly scared by a movie was the exorcist. Some of the older movies would have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Krohaden Farm was a great one from the 70s and to this day it bugs me because my mother walked in and made me shut the tv off right at the ending and I never got to see it. Have yet to find it on DVD. Yes and my choice of what I want to watch varies depending on my mood.

lanlan011 not me had enough of the movies that scared me, now I just want to enjoy a good drama and relax and not be scared at all. real life has enough things in it to scare one without purposely scaring oneself.

Great Discussion topic! I have felt like this many of times. I watched Boogeyman 2 and 3 last night. I actually went to sleep on Boogeyman 3. So, I am going to finish watching this somehow. My husband was still watching this movie when I woke up. I dozed off as this movie was playing. I feel like I want to be scared all of the time. Sometimes, I daydream about going to a haunted house and taking a certain amount of people with me. We all would come together. And it would be many people and guards that have strong weapons. Some movies can be not so scary when you want to be scared.

Hello Lanlan, No im not like that at all. I dont like to be scared. To me what scares me the most is if I have to go to a hospital (for myself) I remember this summer having to go because I had an infection on my finger. I caught it washing some vegetable, according to the doctor. Now I wear gloves!! Anyways, the doc wanted to cut it open. When I saw the knife, my heart was thumping, I started sweating and shaking. So much so that I told him to give me some antibiotics and I left....running out of there as fast as I could. Now that TO ME was really scary. You're right when you say that movies like SAW are rather disturbing. Makes you wonder what type of freak the writer is lolo. Hope you do get SO scared that you'll know what it really feels like.
