Hey, fellow myLotters! I tend to think, that women color their hair more often, than men, but both men and women are welcome to respond here!
I have black hair, it is my natural hair color, I've never colored my hair. Well, I tried to do that in kindergarten, using green highlighter, but it didn't look good
So, is your hair color natural or not? Have you ever colored your hair?
PS:I apologize if this discussion has recently been around.

Hello, Well I have to say that I laughed when you said that you tried to dye your hair with a green highlighter, I think that all children and adults when they were children tried to do that either with markers or anything else that colors or dyes clothing and skin. I will honestly say that when I was younger I wanted to take a blue kool-aid packet and dye my brothers hair with it. He is 16 months younger then me. We were about 10 and 9. My brother said yes that I could do it and then we made the big mistake of asking our mom if we could and she said no. But I can say that my is not natural. I do color it and it is a medium auburn color. My natural hair color is blond which I do not like because I am not a 100% blond, I do not even act like one half the time. Plus to the medium auburn looks good on me. I will say that this discussion has been around before but I enjoy answering discussions about hair coloring so that is OK.

Lol, nice story with your "devilish plan"! Too bad you've asked your mother, I am sure your brother would have been happy about his new style!
Auburn looks really nice on women with long hair, I think. Thanks for sharing, have a great day!:)

I think I know what you're talking about. My mother uses that product sometimes and I've also heard about beneficial effects of hina. Thanks for responding!:)

LOL. My current hair color is brown.. and my natural hair color is blank. About a couple of months ago, I decided to color my hair for a change, that was the first time I did something drastic to my hair ( never straightened nor curled ).. I was scared, but it turned out great and I love my hair now more than ever.

It's good that you've managed to make a positive change in your outfit by coloring your hair. I bet it's a good feeling when you wash down the rest of the dye and see, that the result of coloring is really one you wanted! Thanks for responding!:)

Yep, that's true.. I was so scared during the process, cause I was thinking what if I don't like it, or what if the color doesn't really match my skintone.. But it turned out great, and I'm looking forward to the next time I color my hair again.

My hair color is black and it is its natural color. I tried to color my hair once and it has created damage on my locks. It has become frizzy and less manageable. It took me a year to regain its healthy look. I will not dare try it again. Besides, I'm more comfortable with black than any other hair colors.:-)

Looks like you're another person, who had a bad experience with coloring hair. There have lots of people like you responded to my discussion. Anyway, I think you look very good with black hair (of course in case that it is you on that avatar). Thanks for answering!:)

I am one of the unlucky people who can't just be altered by science without paying a cost. LOL. Yes, that is me. No one else. Thank you though for your polite compliment regarding my hair color.:-)

Mine is natural. I have never colored it and never attempted to do so. I love the shiny black color of my hair. I had it colored temporarily though due to school activity. I was one of the dancers then in one of our school program. All the dancers have to color their hair with a multi- colored highlighter. It is washable though. After the dance number I had it removed immediately. I still love my hair black.

I have a black hair too, and I like it, just like you. I think that most of the women look good with black hair. It's good that you found that temporary solution for coloring your hair for a school program. Too bad if you would have had to color it with some permanent dye, that would last for longer period. Thanks for sharing!:)

Haha! You are right! I'm so glad I don't need to have a permanent multicolored hair. It looks good on some people though. I just don't think it is appropriate for me to have it especially now that I'm working in a corporate world. It would not matter if I am an artist or maybe into fashion thing. Well, my work involves meeting clients for business purposes and I don't think they would take me seriously if I face them with multicolored hair. My staff might also not take me seriously.

When I was younger my mother knew a hairdresser that colored my hair for free so I had a lot of different colors (only highlights), from dark brown to blonde and red. Now that it's not available to me for free anymore, I don't color my hair because it's too expensive to keep that hair color fresh and beautiful. I have brown hair and I think of my hair color as a bit boring, but I don't want to throw all that money away so I could seat at the hairdresser's one day a month and get my hair re-colored. I wanted to have darker brown hair but a stylist advised me not to color them, because it would look strange once my hair grew a little, like it was invisible.

Wow, you've been quite lucky back then. It's nice to have experiments with different colors when they're free. I think that the main thing is that your hair looks good and groomed, color variations don't matter that much (I mean, you don't have to color your hair to make them look good). Thanks for sharing!:)

Hi Biomechanoid. Yes, my current hair color is my natural hair color. It's a black color that tends to lighten to a brown in the light. I've never colored it, at least not yet, though one day I just might. But until I have too many gray hairs for my liking I'll keep it just the way it is...for now anyway. LOL
Happy mylotting!

Never heard about that "Sun In" product, but is seems to be some kind of weird stuff, if it has such effect on ones hair. Thanks for answering!:)

Hi, Biomechanoid. I have natural black hair. It is black, but when I fix it, it gets jet black. It is like my natural hair color comes out more. I have dyed my hair an medium brown in 2000. About that same year later, I went to a hair dresser and I let her dye my hair back to the same natural color of my hair. I had Clariol's Midnight Black. She dyed my hair to this color. So, it is about 9 years from the last time that I ever dyed my hair. I will never dye my hair again. It will be 10 years of this year from the last time that I have dyed my hair. I would rather keep my hair naturally colored black from now on. If I wanted to ever dye it again, I am going to do a semi-permanent rinse. And this time, an professional hair dresser that I trust will put it in for me.

I think this is the one of such cases, when the natural one is better, than artificial. It's good that you decided to restore your natural color and you managed to do it quick. I mean, some people have trouble with restoring the former color, sometimes they have wait for ages until their natural color would appear from under the dye. Thanks for sharing!:)

hi biomec,I never tried to change my hair color to an absurd one---i'm pretty happy with it being black---but i apply some powder to my hair which makes hair look more of an shade of orange and its good for health though so its kinda black when i oil my hair else mild orange color in the sun.I would never go for the color dyes though they have an bad impact on our hair and they result in white hair.great day.

Hey, sunny! It's good to hear that you have found a way to improve the look of your hair without damaging it! Coloring hair with chemical dyes may cause a really serious harm to your hair. Thanks for responding and have a nice day too!:)

i haven't had my natural hair color since i was around 10 years old.
my hair is currently a vibrant red color and before the red, i had blue-black.
my natural color is light brownish-orangeish color that i just can't stand, so i try as hard as i can to stay away from it.

Too bad you don't like your natural color. But fortunately dye has been invented, so you may change the color of your hair as much as you want! I think your current hair (that one on your picture) looks great too! Thanks for responding!:)

yes, my hair color is natural. I have a dark hair, which is very short, just like the men in the army, and I like it, because I don't feel very well, if my hair is a lttle bit more longer. Every morning when I wake up and my hair is not so short, I have many problems with it, because there are many tufts stand on end and I hate it when this happens. That;s why I prefer the short hair. And I also have never had any other color for my hair, because I don't think boys must dye their hairs

Ah, I know what you're talking about. I used to have a short hair too and it was actually quite good. I didn't had any problems with fixing my hair after the sleep my head had been ventilated better too. Now, some 2 or 3 years ago I decided to grow a little bit longer hair, just to see, how would I look with them. I found the result good and since then I've been having some longer hair (but not very long). It's length is just enough to cover my ears with hair. I've also never dyed my hair, because I think it's more womens business to do that. Thanks for sharing!:)

Yes, I dyed my hair once when I had long hair. I don't like coloring my hair because nature is the best. And chemical stuff will hurt my scalp. I have a lot white color hair at very young age, about 10 years old. So I have to cut my hair very short so that people won't notice it.

I agree, chemical dyes may cause some serious harm to your hair and scalp. And it's too bad if you'll get your hair colored, but you won't like the result. It would be so hard to get rid of it. Thanks for answering!:)

Perhaps you'll get to try these colors some day. You can consult some hair technicians, who perhaps can suggest you, which color would suit you more. Thanks for answering!:)

You're right, there is always a risk that coloring your hair may damage your hair. Perhaps, if you really want to color your hair, you could try some natural means, like henna?

Hey there,
When it comes to my hair colour I have kinda a "both natural and unnatural" thing going on. My hair is naturally a brown/blonde kind of a colour, but I do dye it on occasion just a slightly lighter shade than normal.
....vanity is an ugly thing :p
I liked what you said about the green highlighter thing, I used to do stuff like that when I was a kid. Awesome days.
Typically though, I can't stand really unnatural colours on women. For instance seeing a woman with platinum blonde hair and black eyebrows, not a good look there ladies. Or the whole blue rinse thing you see all the time on old women.

Nice to hear that you have also done experiments with these highlighters!
Kids just have some crazy ideas that they surely want to try!
I agree with you, women with unreal hair color look strange. Same thing with a fake suntan. I've seen such "babes" who have even joined both of these terrible fashion mistakes together, they look horrible (although they don't know it).
Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts!:)
