I was sitting at the computer typing away on myLot, when I heard the microwave timer go off. YESS!!! My popcorn was done! I hopped up and raced in to the kitchen. I was soon met with a cloud of smoke. I ran to the microwave opened and found my popcorn bag and smelled the horrible burn smell. Darn Snack Size (im used to the regular size so i set it for too long) I grabbed the bag, ran to the garage and dumped it into the trashcan. I raced inside and opened the back door hoping the smoke and horrible smell would leave. My mom HATES the smell of burnt popcorn but it was too late she came in and gave me a look. She had just freshened the house a little earlier and now here I come and stink up the house. She probably regretted letting me stay home from school today. We left for the store and came back to smell the awful smell...Now a couple of hours later I'm telling my story to you. (IT STILL STINKS!!!) Dont you hate it when you look forward to eating something, and then you burn it? or someone else burns it? Do you burn food?

Oh I hate that. Burnt popcorn smell is the worst. Last time I burned something it was cookies. They weren't quite done when the timer went off so I left them in the oven just for one or two more minutes. 15 minutes later...

Its been a day now and whenever I open the microwave I smell IT. And when someone uses the microwave, the smell circulates through the house.

Ha. I used to do that with cookies alot. Now when my cookies need to stay in longer, I just add more time to the timer.

Usually I do too, but once in a while I don't and those are the times when something distracts me! Usually not 15 minutes worth though.

Hi, lanlan011. I can understand how you feel. I have burned a few things in my life, only if I am not properly watching it on the stove like I should. I have burned boiled eggs. I ended up falling asleep and I awaken to the smell of burnt eggs. I have let rice stick to the pot a couple of times too. From this, I try to keep a close eye on my food. I don't like to eat food that has burnt.

I've burned boiled eggs several times. A couple weeks ago my mom was warming up some chicken and dumplings and she burned it somehow. It didn't look burnt but it sure did taste burnt.

My dad does NOT waste burnt toast. He scrapes the burnt off and eats it no matter what.

This has happened to me with microwave popcorn several times. Now I try to just use the airpopper.

Yep that is an awful smell to contend with. I don't burn things too often, unless my kids have me super distracted.

MMMmmmmm.......burnt popcorn!! I love that smell! Seriously!
Have I burnt anything? Goodness yes! It's especially frustrating when you're really hungry and what you could just taste what you had burnt....ahem.....cooked!
