What was your first experience with Starcraft?

My first experience with Starcraft was, I think, about 10 years ago. I didn't really know what it was and was just going through all the games lying about my computer. A friend of my sisters got us Starcraft, and I remember going through the first Terran campaign at first and was like "Hey this is kind of cool!" ... and then while my marine was walking around a scouting the fog of war cleared and a zergling popped out of the ground and killed me. I could not bring myself to play it again until years later when I saw a kind of friend of mine playing it and I asked him what it was. He told me "Starcraft", and I vaguely remembered knowing the name and probably having the game. So I went home and started playing again. In all honesty I played with cheats for the first year or so on single player, which screwed up most of my base knowledge of strategies and actual gameplay, but I stopped when I found out it didn't work on multiplayer hahah. So how did you guys find Starcraft and what was your first experience with it? I'd like to hear all about it ^^
