First drink in the morning

What is the first thing that you have to drink in the morning after you wake up? Why is it that you drink this first thing after you wake up? For me, I have to have a Pepsi first thing when I get out of bed in the morning. I think that the reason for this is that I am addicted to caffeine and I also have blood sugar that tends to run low so this helps with both the caffeine and also with the need for some sugar in my system.

I never claimed that it was a good choice for a morning drink. It just happens to be the one thing that I am used to grabbing in the morning.

I think water to replenish my thirsty then I will used it while brushing my teeth in the morning. It will feel you cool & gargle with Listerine. Caffeine will only be addicted to my system and it built nervous when you drink more caffeine.

It is definitely a fight for a person to overcome a caffeine addiction or any addiction for that matter and that is why I am trying to work through it right now.

I used to drink soda almost all day long. Now, however, I will drink it in the morning for the caffeine boost, but after that I won't allow myself to have anything else flavored until I have drank at least 100 oz of water.

I think, how do you control yourself in limiting yourself to take caffeine. To divert to another like herbal tea or other medicinal drink is a good thing to do.Happy mylotting & advance Happy Valentines Day!!

For a long time I would start my day with a drink of diet cola, which often lead to me mainly drinking it all day. But these days I have gotten into the habit of having either hot honey and lemon or a mug of tea to start my day, I alternate so I never become bored. It was part of a concious decision to cut down on the amount of fizzy drinks I was consuming. But because I also have a bit of a sugar low in the morning I have to make sure that the drink is sweet enough to help me or else that day is a no no.

Well you hit the nail on the head as it certainly works to help cleanse the system and the honey gives me just the right sugar kick to start the day. So I would give it a go and if you like it I would say to alternate your days, especially if you might suffer from caffeine withdrawals.

Alternating the days is a wonderful idea. I will have to start trying to do that and see how it works out for me.

I've never drank honey and lemon. Is this something that you would recommend? I know that lemon is good for the body and helps to cleanse it. Maybe this is something that I should look in to.

It seems to me that my mother is also very loyal to a specific brand of coffee as well. I can't remember right off the top of my head what it is right now though.

You drink about as much coffee in a day as my mother does. She herself goes through a pot of coffee each day.

The first thing I usually drink is water to take my pills with. After that it depends on the weather. If it is cold I will drink coffee. If it's hot the last thing I want is a hot drink! I can't drink caffine so I have gotten used to not using coffee to get me started in the morning!

I don't like to drink water unless it is heavily iced. That is my preference.

Water in the morning is a very good thing. Even if it is with pills, every ounce of water that we take in is good for our bodies.

I drink a lot of water! I am just lucky that it's good for you and I like it a lot, especially if it's very cold! That is probably the only cold drink I drink in the winter!

well, that's very reasonable, dorannmwin. for me, it's coffee, complete with cream artificial sweetener. sometimes, though, i take four full glasses of water before my coffee. that's to water down some residues of the food taken before hitting the sack. it's like having a clean bag before putting in new contents....

You are the second person that has said something about four glasses of water. I'm curious, is there a specific reason that people say four glasses of water?

i am not very sure if i remember it correctly, dorannmwin. but somebody said that four glasses of water constitutes the ideal volume of water for cleansing the stomach in the morning. probably, they made some extrapolations on that particular volume vis-a-vis our stomach and intestines, they may even have factored the weight of four glasses of water...

First thing in the morning, I swallow a couple of pills with a glass of water while waiting for the water to heat to make my tea.

I think that this may be the first time that I've had more than 100 responses on the same topic. I usually am happy whenever it goes above 20 responses. That said, I think it is interesting that you have certain times of the day that you will drink coffee or tea.

I only drink water firts thing in the morning, and then maybe coffee or hot chocolate or juice. But I have to start with water. If I don't whatever I eat just doesn't go down well, or I feel different the entire morning, you know what I mean? Can't explain why though.

Normally I take coffee or tea or milk whatever is at that point available. Also there is no compulsory. Some days I take water one or two glass. But some are saying taking water in the morning is good for health. It will cleanup the stomach. Taking Pepsi like drink is not advisable. Many of the drinks are added some flavor that may not good for stomach.

I realize that it is not advisable to do it. But, like with all bad habits that people have, it is something that is difficult to stop.

Sometimes I have a milo but I don't really have a set drink. I tend to feel different every morning and don't really have a set routine. I guess I think variety is the spice of life and I like to eat and drink different things.

Well I think the best drink for us is water. If you are health conscious try to follow my regimen: After waking up I drink 2 glasses of water - this will help activate our internal organs. I take 1 glass of water 30 minutes before meal - that will help digestion; 1 glass of water before taking a bath - it will help lower blood pressure; and l glass of water before sleeping - to avoid stroke or heart attack.

I can completely see why you have to make a couple of stops to the bathroom soon after you get up. That much fluid and I think I'd be running to the bathroom all day long.

I usually drink either water or juice with my breakfast when I wake up. I try not to drink too many soft drinks. Every once in a while I will have sweet tea but most of the time I will drink water or some kind of juice.

Hey dorann! I'm with you! I like to have a Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke first thing in the morning too! When I was working my co-workers used to think I was crazy! I was never much of a coffee drinker! I actually prefer tea! And in the Summer I definitely don't like to drink anything hot in the morning! I will sometimes have a glass of Orange Juice if I am having breakfast on the weekend, but I very rarely eat breakfast so I stick to my diet sodas! I can drink Diet Coke or Pepsi 24/7 and have been doing it for most of my life!

On most days it has to be water, if I don't forget it that is. It has to be plain water, lukewarm, because it is believed that it helps to detoxify the body when taken at the correct times of the day - first thing in the morning and before meals.

Coffee, of course! That is my must have first drink of the day-caffeinated coffee. I've tried decaf but the taste is not the same. If I could get the same taste I would gladly switch, since I think it's the taste I am addicted to and not the affects of the caffeine. I can drink coffee at any hour of the day and still fall asleep when I want to. Anyway, coffee first thing in the morning and usually orange juice or water mid morning with a late breakfast.

I think that we are more likely to need to drink water first thing when we wake up in the morning during the cooler months of the year because the humidity in our homes is down.
