A new invention

Don't steal this idea but my 10 year old grandson has come up with a great idea for cheap power. He wants to invent a house that is powered by noise. I like quiet but he says he'll find a way to use the power without actually listening to the noise.
Anyone want to be in line for this type of power?

your grandson must be in that adorable stage where his mind works overtime. hehe it's a great idea to use sound energy to create cheap power. and not being able to hear the noise is an excellent feature. i hope when he grows up, he'll be able to realize his inventions. i'm sure there were more. hehe
my nephew used to be in that stage when he built his own atm (machine) when he was five, out of cartons and boxes. (my mom was shocked with the mess but she didn't quite say it so as not to offend her grandson because he was really proud of his machine.) he said he built it so his mom will always have money when she needs it. hehe he knows better now, but his overactive imagination and inventive ways has him sustain his interest in science and investigative projects. now he's just turned 16, about to graduate from highschool and very much into computer programs that his school's IT team has taken him under their wing. he'll be in the university next year. we're all excited and proud for him. he's my eldest nephew.

Well done to your nephew.
Yes, there are many other ideas he has, some not at all practical but as long as he keeps his brain working it doesn't matter.

Yeah, NO. I'll go with solar, thank you very much! Noise may be cheap, but my sanity is priceless! :-)

Maybe if the noise was absorbed as it created the power.

Great idea! I won't steal it from you, but if your grandson every makes his invention I'd love to know how to get hold of it. This house could sure do with using the noise in a useful way. He sounds like a very clever boy, and I'm sure he'll be a great inventor one day!

You have one thinking Grandson there. Hey come your "old age" he will have earned you enough money to keep you in all the good things of life and you wont want for anything except to get away from the noise!
Encourage him with his inventions though. x

Wow! Where do I sign up?!! Gee, there's so much noise here that it would be a snap and I could maybe sell the excess power back to the power company lol. What a bright kid he is! Tell him he should work on it for the science fair, you never know, he might have a million dollar idea there:-)

We don't have science fairs here but he's 10 now and intends to keep thinking and working on it.

Powered by noise? OMG sounds like the house from hell or a house of horrors either way you wouldn't get me anywhere near. I am a simple, peaceful creature who needs and thrives on SILENCE, PEACE. I don't like noise of any sort and I would love to hear the proverbial pin drop but chance would be a fine thing, even dogs barking at the back drives me to distraction. Oh and they couldn't pay me to live in a house of noise, or even purchase one! I wonder if you could run a house on silence now that would be something worth marketing ;0)

My thoughts entirely, Wolfie. But he has said he would try to adapt it for me so I didn't have to listen to the noise.

i think your son has a great future ahead.Yes noise can be one of the renewable resources of energy but the quantity prouced by noise should be much so that it could rotate a dynamo or some power generator. But still it a good thought to be considered for future
