can you feel it if someone is staring at you?

I don't know if it's just me but sometimes I'd feel goosebumps when I know someone is staring at me. Usually I could feel my nape tingle, too.
Like in the library the other day, I was skimming through a lot of books for a research paper that I had to finish when I slowly felt my goosebumps and a tingling sensation crept up my spine. When I looked up there was this girl that I didn't know that was staring at me. I even caught her eye. Only then did she realize she was staring at me.
It turns out she was my sister's friend and she thought I looked familiar and she was trying to place where she saw me.
But the feeling of being stared at was so weird. And it's not the first time either.
Am I crazy or everyone has the same experience?

My lip twitches when I start to feel like someone is watching or staring at me. It's actually a good sense to have as you can look around to see if it's an admirer or someone more dangerous maybe?

An admirer, if not so lecherous looking is always welcome

well being married doesn't mean you can't be admired.
as if you would jump on anyone that shows any admiration at all. you're husband should be flattered that he is married to a gorgeous girl...

Hello there,
I don't think i can feel if someone is staring at me from my back, but i do able to feel if someone stand next to me or infornt of me that staring at me. If he is a cute guy, i won't mind he staring at me.
But i will feel extremly uncomfortable if this are only me and the other guy in a elevator and he starting at me.

Hey friend! I've had much experience in my life of 36 years and I've been used to such incidents. There was a time when I used to feel uneasy to such staring. But now I have the power to ignore these looks. In these cases, I usually ignore and continue my work as if there is none to disturb me. Of course, I allow people to judge me. Moreover, I let people judge me while in conversation being very honest and simple with them. I don't get worried as to what people think of me judging my movement. You're too young (21) too learn. There is a great amount of time for you to achieve this quality. Best of luck.

funny that's about the 2nd time I got my age posted on a response.
Am I ranting too much about stuff beyond me? I agree understanding really comes with age.

Yes. I too have had experiences of people staring at me. It can be very unpleasant, especially if it's an unfriendly stare. One thing you said that hits the nail on the head is the example of people staring, figuring out the facial features, shape of the ears, etc., trying to figure out if they know you or not. I know this because I sometimes see people who look awfully familiar and so I stare. So when someone stares at me, I think that maybe they think they know me from somewhere which is possible. The thing I do like about staring is when a toddler looks at me. I'm in the grocery line and reading a magazine when I feel it. I look up and see a baby looking at me. I look surprised, and make a funny face. Most of the time the baby laughs. I like that and it makes my day.

Yes if it's a grownup staring at you, it feels disconcerting sometimes. But with babies and children it's different. Maybe because always think that children are so innocent and they are really not a threat.

Yes,abitcurious,I had the same situation like what you talked about.Still in the library, a girl who I didn't know sat in front of me and I felt she was staring at me for a long time,I looked at her,but actually she was just in a daze thinking over something. She still realized that and smiled at me for apology.

I'm also in a daze specially if I didn't have enough sleep the previous night. It's unintentional and I'm not really looking at something.

I always have felt that way when I feel like someone is staring at me. I feel like I am dressed wrong, wore my makeup the way they didn't like it or something along those lines. I have always felt that way even when I was in school. I feel out of place when someone is staring at me like that.

I think so, most of the time I could catch people staring at me even before I see them, I usually get a pre-feeling that someone is giving me a "hard" look. Sometimes I catch them from the corner of my eye, but sometimes that's not the case. Like if the person is directly behind me. Still I get that kind of sense that I can't just ignore. I don't know if it's just me, but I could bet there are also times when I'm completely unaware that someone's watching me.

I think we can feel people beaming their energies at us that's why.

Yes, very often I can...even if I have my back to the person. Since we are made in good part of energy, perhaps we "pick up" on the other persons presence and that they are directing their stare at us.
It is an odd phenomena to me :)

Actually, it has been scientifically proven that if you look at somebody long and hard enough, then eventually they will sense somebody purposely staring at them and turn around to find out who it is

Yes I can feel when someone is staring at me and it feels really awkward and I eventually want to look to see whos staring at me. Still you know when you look back the person will look or pretend to look somewhere else so you won't think that you were staring at them. Still I don't get annoyed with it they can stare at me if they want it's ok. Still it's what people do because they are observing a person to see how they are. I stare too, but not for a long time maybe just for a little, but only because I am trying to approach that person to talk to them so I can become their friend.

I really don't mind being stared at. Although if a stare is accompanied by a lecherous grin then that would be a different thing.

Ya, I can ususually feel it when I'm being stared at or at least there have been many times when I've felt it before noticing it. There is one man that comes in the store that I work and he does that staring thing. If I didn't know him so well, I'd think it was down right creepy. We are friends and I don't think he realizes that he does it. I've called him out on it a few times and he seems like he doesn't have a clue to what I'm talking about. Maybe he is just daydreaming and appears to look my way.

Haha, this is kind of a joke, but maybe we have a sixth sense. And I can feel it too, it feels kind as if someone is almost tapping you in the back without the physical action involved.
