Is spelling really all that important?

hahahah... nice one. i am reading it correctly even the spelling is not right. because the brain reads the first and last letter of the word. spelling, grammar and thought is not that important . we are here to learn and discuss things. well, my grammar is not good but i am trying to learn it. the consolation is the earnings. mylot is for socialization and income generation.

i think it is harder to type it wrongly than read the wrong spelling. :-) the wonder of god's creation, the brain.

I saw a shorter version of this in one of those quiz sites. Amazing how our brain works, right? It seems our brain has the capacity to find connections when at first look there isn't one. Nice idea with this brain workout. You should also try those pictures--don't know what they're called--where you get different visuals if you change the angle from where you're looking. It's fun.

I've never seen those pictures, but they would be fun! I got a kick out of reading the scrambled letter words too.

okay barehugs let me try Some mylotters will undoubtedly pass this spot right by while some will understand what foreign language this post is written in. However when the words suddenly begin to jump into your mind you will be amazed. Please tell how you felt when that happened? right, you have to take the first and last letter and let your brain put them where they belong then you can read it just fine. love this, great brain workout too.

I don't have much problem reading this one but I still think that even with jumbled wordss like this, spelling is still important - or at least, knowing the first and last letters and the letters in between. Try jumbling an unfamiliar word and for sure, many can't decipher it.

Most people are very surprised at their unknown ability to decipher a jumbled word. It looks so foreign, but the word jumps off the page right into their brain!

Hi there friend this is a very nice discussion. Our mind doesn't read a word as a whole word as long as the first and the last letter in in the right place we can easily read a word. We can do this because we already know the words written on your post so rich vocabulary is still important that's why some peple said that only smart people can read a jumble letters. Amazing huh!!

Yes, I can read you well here even how you jumble up your words. Spelling is important to get the right meaning of the words across. I am so used to reading the words in mylot so I can roughly figure out the words and come with the right words.

I know what you mean! Many myLotters whose first language is not English will often get their letters jumbled. But we can read between the lines and can usually translate their hidden meanings. I wrote that little post, with difficulty though! Its much harder to put your mind aside, so you can jumble the letters, than it is to read the results.

I flet cguaht in taht smee old tarp. I hvae raed slmiiar tginhs to tihs in elaims, and oehtr pceals, and truly, I don't find it very difficult reading that way, but it is hard to write that way. I always feel, a bit smarter when I read these things, but at the same time slightly confused, and so long as one knows what you means, spelling is irrelevant, the country has been around longer then standardized spelling. I appreciate you.

When I tried to read the scrambled letters I was surprised at how easy it was, but when I tried to write the post I found it exceedingly difficult. Thanks for the appreciation!

lol...I can read everything that you write here...kinda fun to read to besides challenging...Well not all mylotter will feel the same as I felt. Maybe some will be annoyed and irritated. But there is a mylot rule that say "Do Not Post discussions, responses or comments criticizing members for bad/broken English or bad spelling. Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language."

Yes I feel spelling is important because it is easier to read and understand what one is asking. I am always careful when I type things to make sure that I spell things correctly and make sure that my questions and responses make sense.

I know, of course, that you know, I wrote this paragraph with tongue in cheek! It is much easier to read, than it was to write. I nearly bit my tongue twice before I had accomplished my objective. But it was fun!(I trust its written correctly?)

Very good! The mind really can figure out what the words are even when scrambled! However, in answer to your question, I guess I do think that spelling is important. It reflects poorly when spelling is incorrect. That being said, I am trying not to spell anything incorrectly in this post!

Words incorrectly spelled reflect poorly on the writers intelligence! To say nothing of a paragraph of words carefully jumbled and calculated to puzzle even the most intelligent reader who, has no trouble deciphering it at all!
