Have you ever heard footsteps of a ghost?

It was one thing to watch horror movies and one thing to actually experiece a horrfying night. My best friend decided to sleep over since it was exam night. We decided to review together until late night and that was when it happened. We were in the dining room, facing each other on the dining table then I went to the bathroom to pee and when I cam back, we heard a thump upstairs. My head felt like it was expanding but I didn't make my best friend notice it. I knew she is a scaredy cat, worse than I am. There were already stories about our house since this is an old house but I ignore it though I already had many experiences as proof to the stories but that night was the most horrifying for me even if we only heard the footsteps upstairs. My best friend asked me if I heard the thump and I nodded with my eyes wide open and she got the idea. We were the only one who was awake that time of night. 11:30 in the evening. We tried to ignore the thump we heard but the footsteps continued. They were either light footsteps of a girl in her teens or were footsteps of a toddler. It seemed he/she was playing by herself that night at the room above us. We had goosebumps. The footsteps didn't stop and it scared us more and more until we decided to go out at 2 AM when the footsteps still continued. We went to the convenience store for two hours trying to focus on our reviewers even though I couldn't really focus on them. At four we came back to our house and still the footsteps were there. In my mind, I could hear giggles of a child playing but I didn't actually hear it. It only about pass 5 AM when our neighbors were starting to start their day. We went to school sleepless and I didn't have a clear review of the topics we had for exams. Until now, I still wonder if it was a kid or if it was a girl in her teens walking or making us hear his/her footsteps that night. And it couldn't have been a bad dream because my best friend, too could still remember that night clearly even though we don't talk about it much now since we were both scaredy cats. How about you?
