My grandson came in after the big snow we had last friday & looked at me & said 'bobo, u are just a sissy'. oF COURSE I HAS TO ASK WHY AT 67 YEARS OLD I HAD BEEN CALLED A SISSY for the first time in my life. Been called alot of things but never that. He said it was because i didn't like snow that made me a sissy, cheeky kid, lol. Have u been called any new names lately??

Ha!ha!ha!ha! That is really funny! It made me really laugh. How come being afraid of snow made him think you are a sissy? He must be a real smart one! Your grandson is really so cute. I wish I could see him! Oh well, I've not been called any new names lately, not yet so far! Ha!ha!ha!

That made me laugh so much ANTIQUELADY. I don't like the snow either, but haven't yet been called a sissy for it yet luckily enough.
I have been called a new name recently. This person who I know and see on occasion saw me the other day and greeted me with "Wassup Flyboy?" My reaction wasbecause I haven't a clue what a "flyboy" is. Though this guy is, shall we say, one card short of a full deck.

Hi Aunty, sissy indeed. You'll look back with fondness on that remark when Ryan gets a bit older. Mine has really hit the toilet humour stage which really only does appeal to boys. The only new name I've been called is Hugo when my friend telephoned, she says we sound exactly the same on the phone.

Yassou Aunty, we're both doing fine thanks but tired. The cold spell has finally hit but its not too bad, nothing like last winter and I was dreading a repeat of that. Someones making a big song of dance about being driven to school early morning though instead of walking to the bustop in the cold, little sissy.

hi antiquelady well here in Gold Crest I have been called lovely lady, sweetie, and You are a sweetheart by some of the care givers and a few of the residents.I just smile sweetly and say thanks and go on about my bu siness otherwise I would be a bit embarrassed by these names. I try to get along with others and I am a little shy but getting called a lovely lady really does embarrass me a bit, how should I act, like a crabby old crank? Of course nobody goes around calling grouches grouches but maybe they should and shock the grouches into behaving like sweet people for a change.

Lol, that's cute. Little ones definitely come up with some good ones, and like it or not they're almost always straight up and honest. Sometimes brutally so!
And if not liking snow makes you a sissy then everyone can go ahead and call me a sissy too!

Letmethink. Oh yes, lastweek my 9 year old grnad daughter called me a 'Silly Billy', because I was dancing to music. When she saw me on the wii doing exercises the night before last she couldn't believe her eyes and laughed so hard at my efforts. She couldn't do her school homework for laughing so my son took her away to complete her homework. They are so cute and funny. Zachary - who will be five at the end of February - called me to ask If I remembered that he had a Birthday at the end of the month!!!! He sounded very relieved when I said that I had not forgotten.

That's shocking to tell you honestly. To me it sounds as if your grandson doesn't respect you or something for that matter. But I wouldn't know if that's what you call each other. But kids here in my country never call names especially if they know that they are older than they are.Name calling can be good and sometimes can be bad too.I have been called names by friends. family member and relatives but the kind of name that would hurt or offend me..

SHOCKING??? Give me a break. He is a 5 year old little boy just speaking his mind. He was not being disrespectful in any way to me. It was all in fun. I wasn't hurt or offended, i thought it was funny.

Tipay, There are some ways to call names that amount to hugs and kisses! I know it because I have a long lived love story with language and I´m also a grandmother of 5 kids. I call my Vicente "little beast" sometimes and he smiles back.. For me, respect is one of the qualities I cherish. But it goes deeper that calling his loved granny a sissy. Ryan adores his Bobo!

Thanks marg, ryan's bobo adores him to as everyone knows. I call him toot-tale . That is what my grandmother called us when she was playing w/us. My sons were taught to respect me & ryan has been to. If they aren't taught to have respect for u they want have respect for anyone.I thought it was funny he had decided i was a sissy.

In our country that would amount to disrespect and the kid who says something like that will surely get a spanking. Yes, there are times when kids just use terms that are disrespectful. I think we should let them know that name-calling, especially, someone like a grandma or grandma, is showing disrespect.

With the raging war between myself, and the "tenant from he$$"....the names that I am being called, right now, have a heck of a lot more "sting" than sissy! Once the Cold War started brewing...and I handed him all the legal paperwork...he has turned into a real "potty" mouth....doubly so, when his brother is there for moral support! Right now, dear friend...I would be happy with "sissy!"
But gotta admit...I think that is real cute, coming from the little man, Ryan! I can just see it, little man denigrading "Bobo"...what a hoot! Love it..and you!

Hello ladies, Did you really never play in the snow Aunty? We won't have any to play in for the next 30 years.
Shirley if that fould man is calling you names you should tackle him with an oily sponge and a bucket of water and get his mouth washed out. Can't you have him arrested for threatening language or something? He wouldn't get away with speaking to a woman like that over here, he'd be floating as fish fodder.

Unfair, go pick on other people.
Teenager, being a pain at lunch time. Told to put what he had in his hand away. "You're so unfair, go pick on other tables."
Name calling is generally a sign or coersion. Your sissy calling kid wanted you to go out in the snow, which I wouldn't do because it would encourage name calling. I also didn't let up on a kid telling me to go pick on other tables. We went to see a higher authority. Not God either. Take care

Sounds like he was just teasing or being silly.
Still, good idea to watch what you reinforce. I've heard of people laughing at 5 year olds repeating what they heard and people thought it was funny until the kids were sent home from school early for swearing. "Sissy" is a teasing word that no one would be sent home for. Take care.

I like that, Jo! How DARE he call you a sissy!Maybe you should tell him some of the things you have done. As I´m a VERY intelligent witch, I took great care in telling my granchildren stories where I was the heroine. I think Ryan is still in the right age; after a while they don´t believe it. You have to manipulate them at the proper moment. Then you get the good results from your work. Two weeks ago, my eldest grandson (aged 18) came to see me by his own will "because he was passing by". He stayed a long time, we had a nice talk and he even hinted the posibility of his coming to live with me for a while. I have not invited him, but I´d be delighted. I only told him I was a Hi Fi lady and did not care for stereo decibels in music.Did Ryan wanted you to go sleigh ridding with him?

Grandsons are really special in my opinion. We had already talked about me not liking snow so he knew i wasn't getting out in it. Thanks for your response. I know your grandson feels welcome at your house & that's a very good thing for him to know that. I would have lived w/my grandparents when i was growing up if i could have.
