Hello there, it's been a while since i last posted discussions here at mylot, and i do hope some of you still remember me. Anyway, i received a phone call and they are asking me to teach at the Lyceum, at first i felt nervous cause i am not that good for such university, but then again i realized that i must be confident in order for me to fulfill my dreams and my purpose as a human being in this planet.
Do you think i can do this? And do you think i can compete with other educators who are more experienced than me and more intelligent than me? I need help, i am still a bit nervous right now, but little by little i am trying to conquer it, this is my dream, but, do you think this is it?

I really think that's awesome. You should definitely go for it; go all the way.. If you feel it in your passion to teach, why not. I think you definitely have it in you to do it. Go for it. With a Masters, you are more than qualified and I think that is most people's dreams, to be able to teach in a University some-more and share your wisdom and visions to the other students. Remember this always. They are there to learn something from you, so give your best shot.

Of course you can do this! Often the new instructors are much better teachers than the older ones (not always!) and it is because they try harder and still remember what it feels like to be insecure. Just be like a stage actor = nervous behind the curtain, but bold in front of it. The students are already nervous enough, so they do not need to know you are nervous too, but a little nervousness hidden deep inside of you will make you a more sympathetic and kinder instructor, I hope. Kind but firm, of course, as you are a role model, not necessarily a friend to the students.
Of course we remember you! Of course it is your dream!

Hi there drannhh, it is been a while, and it is nice to know that you still remember me. All of what you say is right, and this time i think i need to learn more from you, as you are a more experienced educator than me. Thank you so much and have a great day.

Are they asking you to interview for the job or? You should definatly go for it, even though there are people with more experience and knowledge going for it! If you get it, then great, it's a dream come true, but if you don't, you havent lost anything from it have you? Just don't get too upset if you don't get it, it's nothing to be down about, they just don't realise your potential ;)
Best of luck to you my friend,
Lee.

They are not asking for an interview, i think I've been recommended by someone that until now, i do not have an idea who he/she is. The problem is, on that university, all the educators already have Phd, and i only have Master's degree. That is why i am nervous, anyway, thanks for the motivation. Well said my friend.

You never know, qualifications aren't everything theese days, more and more employers are looking at skills and experience moreover qualifications, as an example, i've just been shortlisted for a job I do not have the qualifications for, simply because I have lots of experience! Are you planning on getting you PHD?

Hiya rjvb,
Take the Job while you can you never know when you will get another chance like that one.
Don´t compare yourself to the others just believe in yourself as much as you can and go for it grab that Job before someone else does it.
Sure you will be nervous but nerves make you grow and overcome the fear and you will find yourself able to handle the situation at hand. You go for the Job just jump in and get your feet wet. Write and tell us all about it as well.
Good luck and don´t look back if you can help it.

Hello lovinangelsinstead21
Of course i will, and you are right, we never know when and where this opportunity will happen again. You are right, if i have the nerves to pursue this dream and opportunity then I surely can, overcome my fears and insecurities.
I will sure to update you about this, but i guess it will be a bit of a long time before i will post the results here, since they asked me to handle college students and the subjects are more on Psychology as that was my major. Anyway, thanks for this and i will surely take your advice. I will never let the people who are believing in me, down!

Since you’ve got a call from them, you must be qualified enough to teach so don’t worry so much. Regarding experience, well yes, it counts a lot but then you wont get any experience if you don’t start at some point…don’t be afraid of making mistakes, they are our best teachers and the more you learn from them with an open mind, the more experienced you will be.

Hi rjvb, go for it. You wouldn't have the invitation if they weren't confident that you can do the job. It doesn't take long for your confidence to build up. Good luck!

Hello rj! You should feel very honored to have received such a once in a lifetime call. As it may be your dream, you will not know unless you try! For being nervous is only the human reaction to greater things. If you look at it as a healthy step towards conquering your dreams, you'll find that it's only part of the journey. I wish you success and joy on your journey in teaching. Perhaps you can help us with what you're specializing in! :)

Wow that’s an impressive job for someone your age! Are you feeling proud of yourself? You should be! Think positive thoughts because I doubt they offer positions like this one to just anyone. They clearly believe in you and your ability and you should too. Of course you can do the job that is why you got it. You must believe in yourself and keep on going because it sounds like you are well on the way of achieving your dreams and still be young enough to really enjoy it! Well done and good luck!

Go for it, as other mylotters saying. I think you should have a try at least. You won't know you can't do it if you don't have a try. If you failed, at least you have a answer that teaching is not suitable for you. You can do other things. Do it no matter whatever the result is. People can't success all the time. That is my my point.
Best wishes for you! Rjvb26.

You are right, and i really think i need to have a try at least, i really cannot do it if i will not even bother trying it, and i will not know if i can do it, if i will not do something. You are right on all of what you said and i guess i just need to be more open minded person and be confident enough to face this challenge. Have a great day.

Don't put that negative thoughts in front of you even before attempting the job. Who says you can't. Nothing is impossible if you put your heart and soul to what you do. When my sister went to Australia to accompany her husband to further his studies, she went without expecting of getting a job there. But being an IT expert, she applied for a lecturing job in one of the college there and got the job almost immediately. Her pin size did not deter her from lecturing a class of adult students most of whom are a head taller than her. Nothing is impossible if you put confidence in yourself.

It sounds to me like this is something you've been looking for for some time now so I don't think that balking is the call of the day and as far as nervous goes, I should hope so. Isn't it that bit of doubt that keeps us focused on what we seek to achieve and on how we pursue to achieve it? And wouldn't that fare far better than overconfidence and arrogance?..Can you do it? Well, you surely can't if ya don't try for it...
Enjoy!

Hello again!
The door haz already been opened for you...why not proceed?
Thiz might be your big break! It may be hard and needz a little adjuztment at firzt but I believe you got what it takez to be an educator..Anyway, education iz a never-ending procezz of learning..
The more you teach, the more you learn..the more you gain experience..and if it iz God'z will, He might let you ztay there for a while and let you continue zharing what you already know what you will be learning more..to your ztudentz..
Evryone haz to move on at zome point..and if God doez not allow it..then He muzt have a better plan in store for you..
What matterz iz you tried and win or loze at leazt you did what you have to do.
Regarding thoze other educatorz who are already ahead of you...They may zeem out of reach already but remember that they did ztart alzo az a beginner..
Believe in yourzelf..whatever the rezultz may be, truzt God to lead the way..
My prayerz are with you. God blezz in purzuing your dream..GoodLuck! Break a leg!

Wow, this was very inspiring and motivating. You are right, God maybe have a plan for me why this opportunity is knocking on me. You are right again, those people are hard to reach now, but then again i realize one thing, we are all humans and we have different talents and level of intelligence and i guess i have something that those people do not have or.. let's just say they badly need. Have a great day and thank you very much for this. I will not let you down.

I think you should go for it. Not very many people get to live their dreams. You shouldn't deny y yourself. Life is like that sometimes. Dreams often have to be worked for, but if you don't try you'll never know if you can reach that dream ofr if it'll remain out of reach. Go for it, jump right in. Once you do it for a while (a few months) you'll never know how good you are at it.
