Okay I have never been really big on eating oatmeal but now that I'm pregnant I am wanting it all the time!! So I'm wondering what you put in your oatmeal? I don't like it with nothing added cause it's too plain for me so I have been adding a little bit of jelly to give it some flavor. What do you like with your oatmeal, butter, sugar? Give me some ideas people!!

My hubby loves oatmeal. I make it this way for him during the week before he heads off to work:
Aldi brand regular (plain) quick oats or sometimes the old-fashioned kind
half of banana
tablespoon of honey (better than sugar:)
2-3 dashes of cinnamon
I like mine this way. It is sooo yummy!
Aldi brand quick oats or old fashioned
half of banana
1/4 cup of golden raisins or regular dark raisins
1/4 cup of crumbled pecans
3 dashes of cinnamon
1 dash of ginger
1/4 cup vanilla soy milk
1-2 tbsp honey
I just had some today and it will keep me full until lunchtime.
God bless you on your pregnancy!:)
Sincerely in Christ,
Leesa C.

I know that they are a lot less healthy than regular oatmeal, but I usually eat the flavored oatmeals. I don't like the maple flavor but I like the other flavors. My favorite is the apple cinamon flavored oatmeal. Regular oatmeal is kind of gross to me, but if I do have it I will usually put cinamon and raisins in it to make it taste better.

sometimes just sugar but in order to cut down I sugar I tend to put banana, or sultanas/raisins and sometimes even cocoa powder.

Hi crys7881,
As a kid, I hated oatmeal. I'd have our dog sitting under the breakfast table and it really saved me from my mother's lectures. She was busy getting my brothers and herself ready for work. so she didn't notice my modus. When my bowl got empty, she would declare, "The winner and champion is ..." and she'd be happily clapping her hands. But nothing lasts forever. One day I was caught redhanded and the dog was never allowed inside the kitchen again.
I am not a kid anymore, way far from it! My important meal before going to work is oatmeal. I have everything in it: a teaspoon of coffee, a teaspoon of brown sugar, milk, cinnamon powder (to maintain a normal blood-sugar level), milk and sunflower kernels or peanuts, almond or cashew nuts, whatever is available. I take a banana or pineapple for my snack.
As an adult, I think of the food value more than I think of what I want. But, I try to make food taste better and enjoyable. As for the coffee, I used to drink 5 cups a day. I am now limiting it to once a day in my oatmeal.
Enjoy your breakfast, crys! It's the most important meal of the day.

Love oatmeal, reminds me of being a kid! I skip the flavored ones and add my own stuff. I like toasted nuts and brown sugar, blueberries, or raisins, cinnamom and a pinch of nutmeg. I usually top it with a bit of milk but sometimes I indulge in a splash of cream!

Hi, crys7881. I love eating oatmeal. I usually will add some butter and lite salt to it. It tastes really good this way. I also usually will buy the flavored fruit oatmeal too. This type of oatmeal has bits of dried fruit in it. So, when you cook it, it cooks along with your oatmeal. This gives the oatmeal a sweet and fruity flavor to it. I still will add butter to this, but no lite salt.

Get the flavored oatmeal. They have peaches and cream, cinnamon, berrys and cream, etc. Something with flavor is the only way to go, I think becuase plain oatmeal is just so blah.
