Paying your cell phone bill late?

Have you ever done this - to the point where they shut you off? I only paid a portion of my bill on time ($75 out of $109 due) and they shut me off a few days ago. Thankfully I get paid tomorrow..But what nerve! I'm a little bit pissed about that. But oh well. How about you? Is this a common occurence? Or have you always paid your bill on time?

I'm very good about paying my cell phone bill. I always pay it on time, even early. I remember however, when I first got out on my own I had trouble paying the first month's bill and my phone was shut off as a result. However, that's only happened once, maybe twice over the years with my cell phones. And, I find this ironic and quite funny too. I was just in the process of paying my phone bill. It was taking its sweet time loading, then finally as if realizing I was paying my bill, decided to be nice to me and load much faster.

I have never had my phone shut off, but daughter has several times, and the sad thing of it is, her phone goes on my credit, as I helped her get her cell phone, as she couldn't afford it. I really shouldn't have as she is so irresponsible at times. I told her that she needs to keep paying it, as I don't want my credit ruined, and she said she doesn't want to ruin my credit either. She is hoping ot get the bill put in her name, but probably won't be able to do so until June or July as that is when I got it for her 2 yers ago. It really irritates me as I keep my phone up, but she just won't do her part sometimes. Hers husband is working oto, so there is no reason she can't pay every month. I will just keep after her until hse does. Anyway, I have never had it happen to me, and I hope it never does either. Take care, and happy mylotting.

Tough Love, Rose. I know it's hard, but you may want the think about taking her off of your plan. I know my parents would have cancelled my phone had I not paid it when I was young.

She isn't on my plan as she has her own plan. Her phone and her shusbands phone are on my credit, as her credit was bad to get the phone in the first place.Sometimes I wish I had just forgot about it, but she said she doesn't want to mess up my credit so she is doing her best to pay it. I have had to help a little, but I must say, not all that much. Now that she lives in another state, she can't ssk me to put my name on anything she wants anymore. I have learned my lesson, that is for sure, as I have told her I am done and not to ask for me to help her anymore. Anything I hae to pay that she owes, I am keeping track so she will have to pay me back.

Hi Maezee, I don't have any problem as it relates to paying phone bills. i am using a prepaid card. so this helps me budget my text messages and calls. it's practical and economical too.

Yes, I always pay my cell phone bill and telephone bill on time. Because my phone company is pretty good at playing hard ball. They will cut off my phone service if I don't pay my phone bill. They do it if I am late by a week or more.

I always make sure that I pay my cell phone bill on time to avoid any of those "additional" charges they try to leech from you at any chance they get I'm thinking about going back to good old pay as you go, to be honest, because I use nowhere near the amount of texts or call-times my contract allows.

Phone companies can do that especially if it's part of the contract. You must refrain from doing so because they sometimes charge a connection fee that is very expensive.

We've been late quite a few times and they haven't shut us off. They just send us a text message and then we pay it. My sister used to be with a company that shut her off even though she prepaid. (Ie, they bill you the basic service charge for the month ahead) Technically, she was paid up until the 20th of the month,. She didn't get the bill one month and so didn't pay by the 12th (for the next month, June) so they cut her off in the middle of May even though she had paid for that. When my mom called and asked why they hadn't called her and told her, they said that because my sister's phone charges for incoming calls, they didn't want to cost her any money. I thought this was ridiculous, because they could just have any phone calls made from their company happen for free. We switched cell phone companies.

My cell phone bill is linked to my credit card so I don't even have to think about it. Most of the times, I'll go online & pay it but in case I do forget, phone company takes it out of my credit card automatically few days before the due date. I try to pay for it before. My cable bill comes out of my credit card automatically as well.

My phone bill is automatically credited to my credit card. But there was a time when I got problems with my credit card and it did not accept my phone bill. I did not realize that until my phone got cut. So I end up paying it late.

Concerned about the cell phone,i am a prepaid customer and so it doesn't arise a question of late paying. But speaking of other bills like water, electricity, land line phone bills,etc..,I pay them before time to avoid standing in long queues. That way we can be in peace and not worry a lot.

I always do forget to pay the cellphone bill on time. Actually, this discussion of yours prompted to pay mine. Thanks for reminding, as I found out that the due date for my bill is also today. It'll take a while for the bank to process my payment, and pay the carrier, but hopefully they won't cut off my line. This is the only bill I have that doesn't automatically debit from my account, that's why I always forget about it.

Ok. I just have to say this because your comment just blew my mind. You seem to lack funds to pay your bill so they should turn it off. They held up there part of the deal, you did not. Second, why in the world do you even have a cell phone bill of $109? I get so irritated by people who complain they have no money, but pay $60 for cell phone, $40 for land line, $400 car payment, $95 cable bill and go out to eat at least twice a week for dinner. Then they eat out for lunch every single day. This is why people don't have any flippin money. Dump your phone and find something cheaper like a cell phone with the prepaid card or go to cricket. I think they charge around $50 a month for all the features with nights and weekends. Not sure but back in summer they were running deals like so.

Over this past summer, with me being unemployed, and my girlfriend teacher not working, we got over two months behind. I called Verizon, and set up a plan to catch up, but just a few months ago we were 2 days behind $40 or so( paid $100 out of $140) and they shut us off! Apparently Verizon can shut off your phone if you're late more than 2 times in 6 months. Of course, we had to not only pay up on the spot, but were charged a $35 reactivation fee! Very frustrating, and I feel for ya.
