The end of the ECW brand.

Well apparently the ECW brand as we know it is going to end, to be replaced by another show on Tuesday nights. Really, in some ways, the ECW brand has overstayed its welcome. It just seemed like an after thought most of the time. I mean, I think most of us realized that it would be nothing like the original ECW. For a short time, they cashed in on the brand name but now, that's run its course. Time for a change, I think, but still keeping the same spirit as a springboard for younger wrestlers. So what are your thoughts on the end of the ECW brand?

ecw has overstayed its welcome a long time ago. ecw doesn't compare to the original. not really sure how wwe can do all the antics of the old ecw with wwe's pg rating. the show and brand will be missed along with the old ecw talents. i'm glad that wwe will have a new show featuring some of the newer wrestlers that they have in their roster. some of the developmental leagues that wwe has just doesn't cut it in my opinion. this is wwe's version of the nba's d-league. looking forward to the new show and what it has offer. for the old ecw, perhaps, wwe can have somethign similar to ecw's 'one night stand' as a ppv and really go the distance with that. just a thought.

ECW has been irrelevant for a long time. I cannot remember the last time it was actually "extreme" in the slightest (it's all DQ now, since when have there been DQs in ECW). Furthermore, all of the originals and legends of ECW have long disappeared or retired. ECW is being changed to NXT, whatever that stands for I do not know. I think it's a good idea though as it can now be recognized for what it has become, developmental for up-and-coming superstars

I believe it is supposed to stand for next generation or something like that. Don't quote me on that, but that is what I read on some message board. So take that for what you will. Yeah, ECW has not been extreme. I think any illusion of this ECW being anything like the original lasted a month. Tops, perhaps. I think when Rob Van Dam and Sabu got pulled over during their little misadventure with a certain substance it was all downhill from there. I had a good idea that the rumors that the name was changing was true when Tommy Dreamer checked out. When you think of ECW, you think of Tommy Dreamer(and well, Paul Heyman too, but Dreamer is pretty much the heart and soul of ECW). It is just a step between the actual developmental and RAW or Smackdown to begin with, with a few veterans working to help the young talent mature.

My thoughts exactly Everything the brand once stood for no longer applies, and all the originals who helped make it have all gone their separate ways. I think the absolute final nail in the coffin was the departure of Tommy Dreamer, the personification of ECW

Honestly I have to say that the end of the new era of ECW is one of the best things that has happened to the WWE. I mean lets be honest the show was terrible. Hence the reason why I never watched it much. Especially in the last two years or so its definetly went downhill. When paul heyman was running ECW it was one of the best shows going. It should have ended when heyman leftt. WWE should never have rebranded it as there new show. It was the worst mistake they could have ever made. They next thing to do would be to get rid of superstars show as well since it gfets badf ratings anyways and the show is usually boring. I dont really see the reason for it. They just need to have RAW and Smackdown and focus on making those two shows the best that they can be. However now they are going to have this WWE NXT. I dont think im going to be to fond of this show either I dont know yet though Ill have to watch it somtime I guess and see how that goes.
