Blogging going extinct?

Hi friends A study states that blogging might loose it's popularity sooner or later. An excert from it says: "A new study has found that young people are losing interest in long-form blogging, as their communication habits have become increasingly brief, and mobile. Tech experts say it doesn't mean blogging is going away. Rather, it's gone the way of the telephone and e-mail - still useful, just not sexy." Generation blog with estimated population of 30 million in the United States in the last 10 years is aging. The new generation of bloggers is interested in microblogs. Everybody seems to prefer short and fast these days.

People still write books, so why not blogs? They may become less popular, but I doubt that they will go extinct entirely.

Hi friend I have the same opinion as yours. As long as there people who want to express themselves, there will be blogs and lots of blogs. I believe that blog is a form of Art and just like the masterpieces of Leonardo Da Vinci and Van Gogh, magnificent blogs will stay. Regards

Ever since blogging became popular there have been regular reports that it's coming to an end, yet still blogging is as popular as ever. Whilst there is definitely a rise in the new microblog phemonenom it has not actually heralded a decline in traditional blogging, for the plain reason that traditional blogging has not only proved to be a very popular and successful way of reaching people but it allows you to express yourself more than on a microblog. What will most likely happen is what is basically happening now with traditional blogging and micro blogging running in tandem.

Whilst I don't think that blogs will ever go extinct, I do think that the novelty they once had has started to wear thin. It seems that anybody and their dog has a blog available on the internet now However, the problem is that not everybody is "blogging material" shall we say, the same way in which some people are not "art material" or "sports material".

I think the amount of blogs may slow with new technology. But, there will always be bloggers as long as people have opinions to share. Or advice to give. Some people share themselves, some share their knowledge. I have a few blogs that I follow. Not as many as I used to, there just isn't enough time. Bloggers must keep on top of their blog or it will fall to the wayside of viewers. I work very hard on mine from seo to content.

That's interesting. I tend to go for forum sites like this where the blood isn't on-going, but the communications aren't as brief as the "hw R U" style of text messaging.

yes, people do prefer the short and fast forms of information right now. it's just that there are things that could not be confined in small mediums. yes, blogs would still be here. most probably the very long ones would fail. but not those at reasonable length.

I think that blogs may not be as popular as they once were, but will probably not become extinct. :) Many people enjoy reading blogs as well as books and they are young, too! I suppose that time will tell what actually will occur regarding blogs... Right now it seems that short and sweet is popular, as in the case of Twitter. It will be interesting to see what transpires in the future! This is an interesting topic of discussion!

Hi Watarikenji, I in fact, see that people are blogging more than ever. Of course, blogging might lose on volumes and it does not look as much "Novel" as before. Yet, it is here to stay, for a long long time. Regards

Unless you spread the word no one will want to read you blog. Every single person so to say is eager to talk about himself/herself and maintain a journal of his life in these blogs and not all would be interested in reading them but would perhaps do out of courtesy. Even blogs of celebrities have lost their sheen.

The message of this is that life is getting more difficult and people have no time spending reading on blogs that have a lot of content. But a few hundreds who can afford to still exist but mostly its not recommended to read blogs when they offer very little to the reader.

80 - 90 % of people that opens blog after a few weeks/days abandons the blog. Writing a blog is not easy and requires a lot of time...so, the sexy time disappears and also blogs. But Blogs won't disappear...
