Hello to all filipino myLotters out there~~ I just want to ask a question, what do you think of kpop? Kpop is hitting our music charts right now. I'm an avid fan of kpop even before it hit the Philippines. But, I got to admit, I don't like kpop hitting the myx charts...you know why? It's because our OPM songs are left out..4 kpop songs are in the chart, but I think there are no OPM songs. I'm kinda annoyed and pissed of because before kpop hitted the Philippines, my friends used to tease me..and now, it's in myx charts.. So what do you guys think?

Oh yes, Koreans are cute and all. But I don't think it's really not right that they're already filling in song charts here in our country, esp in Myx...which [in my observation] is always promoting foreign songs [remember the F4 version of Taiwan then? well, they filled THE WHOLE top 10!]. Sorry keinah2 but i'm one of those "friends" who tease friends-who-listen-to-kpop :D me and my friends don't even like Koreans who stay here in our country, 'coz THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! It's like they're already invading us! Our music, malls, subdivisions. Well, I don't hate them, really [believe me. LOL]...It's just that I think they're making our country a big shopping mall or something. PS. Sorry if the topic seems to get away from k-pop. Thanks keisha2 for starting this really interesting discussion. If there's any Korean who happens to read this post of mine, i'm so sorry...just saying my opinion.

Rofl XDD Yeah, I remember those times when F4 is all over myx (but, reeally??? They filled the whole chart??). I knew that they also invaded the charts but I didn't know they filled all the slots in top 10, It doesn't seem obvious now F4 tackled the charts because radio stations are not playing their songs anymore. I guess myx just goes on with the trend nowadays. Who knows, maybe just like F4, all this kpop craziness is going to end someday. And I agree with you...from the products we use to the music charts, koreans are really over the place.

I hope too, just like you, it will end soon. But as long as there are new songs by 2NE1 and SNSD....there are new korean songs again on the myx chart XD..

YES! F4 FILLED THE WHOLE CHART! ['cause I was once their fan & I always monitor their progress in Myx...actually I was quite happy to see them fill the chart from top10 all the way to top1. LOL. XD] And YES...This k-pop craziness will end for sure. Hopefully soon, nyahaa~!

I listen to KPOP and its so damn cute! keinah2, you're right! We should support our country's artists! But how can we do it if OPM songs sometimes are of "low standards."

Well, that's because filipinos don't support opm songs. More supporters, more fanbase, more fanbase, more money for the music industry.

keinah2 is right. filipinos don't support opm songs. and i'm one of those filipinos. hahaha! BUT! there are some OPM artists that i really, really like.. i.e, Cynthia Alexander and Tropical Depression.. hehe. Actually, i have this dream~ for OPM artists to shine like JPOP and KPOP.. definitely not be like them, cos we aren't as cute as those chinitos.. but at least reach the fame that they have.

It seems as a loss on our side. However, thinking that there are certain artist here in the Philippines who feels being challenge and not anything else, it gives me an exciting feeling to see the outcome of this competition. In business schools, we learn that competition helps organization to exert more of their creative energy resulting to better offers to us consumers. Thinking of it while I am typing it, makes me even more excited.

Yeah, you're really right. In terms of competition you are talking about, we don't have anything against them because they are a rich country. But really, it's okay to love kpop songs and such but shouldn't we support more of our opm songs?

I like Kpop too but I also feel down when foreign songs are on the chart and OPM songs are not. Maybe someday there will be more OPM hits on the chart and I will be very happy because of that

yeah, I feel the same way as you do. Before kpop is known in the Philippines, i'm already a kpop addict, but, my friends will always degrade me when they hear me listening to kpop songs..and now, myx is putting kpop songs in their chart?!

i like kpop.. i don't mind them on the charts but i don't vote or do anything about it either.. i'd like to go to concerts.. and i will if given the chance.. i want kpop to stay at it's current level of acceptance here in the Philippines.. i don't want it to end up like the meteor garden and taiwanese boyband/songs that we had before.. it was like boom! then crash! now people consider them corny..

Hi Keinah2, you are absolutely right and I like your opinion. Same thing here, I love kpop and I admit that I'm a fan. But when it comes on MYX Hit charts I really felt bad that there are few OPM songs that are included. You're right about saying that OPM songs are left out maybe because Kpop has it's unique character of having such "girl group or boy group" thing.. Another, is that their government really support their artist which is really nice. And if you look at it, forming a girl group or boy group is not really patronized by Filipinos most of us like solo artist. It seems that KPOP and OPM are 2 different unique variety of music that you can't compare. But hey we have artist that we should be proud of like Lea Salonga, Charice Pempengco and more..

Hello, keinah2! I completely understand how you feel! I was already so into Kpop before it hit the Philippines, and I quite feel bad right now that they're dominating our charts. One reason why I liked Kpop was because it's different, and what makes it different makes it beautiful. But now, it's just everywhere, and I'm not so happy with that.

I'm also an avid fan of Kpop before it came out in the Philippines. As I can remember, I was still in elementary that time and my first favorite Kpop artist was Boa. Up until now, i'm still looking forward to all her new albums and videos:) I hope one day, she'll have her concert here in the Philippines. :))

To be honest... I really like KPOP. Well... actually, I like their music videos. their really good at dancing. I was so impressed, that's probabaly the reason why I became a fan. I'm not a super fan of KPOP. I'm just a fan. I also go for Filipino Songs. I guess I'm 50-50?
