What does "Open Relationship" mean?

I don't know what are the exact meaning of Open Relationship but I have an idea about it. I think it means that in an open relationship both of individual are willing to understand each other. They let each other do what they want to do and it will be okay for them if they know what are the sins that committed by his or her partner and they will accept what are those sins as long as their partner will be honest to them.

Ah well that may in part depend on the individual. For the most part, here in the USA, if someone says they are in an open relationship it means they are free to date others and be intimate with anyone they choose. If you are In a Relationship then you are exclusive to each other in all ways. You don't date others or be intimate with them. Hope that helps a little! Be Well!!

it pretty much mean even though you are with a person you and them can be with other people as well. to me its wrong to do this, i would never have an open relationship. if i am going to married which i am, i just want to be with my wife only. so its pretty much spouces giving spouce the ok to sleep with others

My 'open relationships', to me meant that we did not 'own' each other, which that damn marriage certificate seems to make people think about each other. I did not expect my partners had to give up their friends, or had to let me know who all her friends were, nor did I worry that she wanted to be out with her friends all night. Yes, it meant we were free to see other people, but hey, it happens all the time, even to those who are 'married'. I didn't tie her down with a ball & chain. My only rule was, that she was to come home to me when they were done, physically & emotionally. So, yes, my partners had other lovers. Did I, no, I didn't, I was happy with my relationships! For me it was enough to have fun looking at & finding other chicks hot, but, I had my partner & she was enough! I suppose I'm just one of those thought to be extinct monogamous creatures.

I think it's a relationship shared by two people minus the commitment. I might be wrong but that is how I understand the term Open relationship

People are so scared of getting hurt today that no one wants to make a commitment like -I'm in a relationship! - and then get dumped. People feel that by calling there relationship an open one it gives them time to decide whether it is going to work out or not. This type of relationship once it lands on its feet automatically transcends into - I am in a relationship. Not that it could end in disaster too, but it just gives everyone space and it is easier to give everything a name. Most people prefer it that way because in a way it's tangible.

An open relationship is when the two of you are not seeing each other exclusively. This is when neither one has promised to only see the other and they want to have the relationship remain open in case they need an out or want to explore their options. This is different than a "relationship" because in a relationship it is agreed that the two want to see one another and only each other.

"Open Relationship" means that you agree or understand your partner beyond no limits. "Open" means free from whatever your plans, decisions, etc. There's no pressure on both sides. Other means can be open for more, or you don't close door for others.

i don't really understand what is that phrase... but in my own analization it comes into situation like this. 1st is that an open relationship may apply to a long distance relationship that even they are still in relationship they can still fling to others???? hmmm..... the 2nd is that open relationship means no keeping of secrets with each other anything may know.... :)
