The news that a New Zealand girl auctioned her virginity online for studying fees did not surprise me at all, I mean it's like more than the 10th time to see this type of bargain. There have been quite some similar posts in China selling her first night out in exchange for money. People here wouldnt even pick up their interest to discuss any more. But it still appealed to me when the news said there was a similar auctioning in USA. How much can the virginity of a girl be valued? probably can't spell it out in exact numbers, but i guess it in a way equals the amount of 20,000 pounds.would you loathe people like her? you know, we all reduce ourself to one point for the sake of something we lack and want.

The winner is paying something like $23,000. It a huge chunk of change for a virgin.

My question is?,
1.where is her parents?
2. we must see her condition 1st?
She can enter academic field , why suddenly she have no money for the tuition?
what happen to the financial?
is the school too expansive?
( but why enter that school if already know the tuition we can,t afford ?, expensive school is not always good)
is her lifestyle too vulgar? etc.
but why sell virginity?, can,t she think another way?

I do agree that it is sad to hear this kind of news, but it is the reality. Some members on here have mentioned that it is a manifestation of the morals that younger generations have. Generally, people have the natural instinct to take the easy way out regardless of the repercussions or consequences as long as they achieve what they want to get. This is more practiced when it comes to survival.
Anyway, as what the others have mentioned, this is a common thing. There is even a joke in our university that whenever exam time comes, female students would flock to a place widely known as a place where they could work for services in exchange for cash which they would use for the tuition. It is actually true and there have been reports of instances like this one, but the joke is a bit exaggerated.
I guess there are a lot of contributing factors why people do this. It could be a deadly combination of all possible factors which result to the person not caring about the moral or ethical implications of their chosen option.

Well is no news that college students often support themselves by selling their bodies I have heard this from reliable sources but to auction your virginity? I think that is going too far! But then I guess it depends on the circunstances of the individual and no I do not loath this person I just feel sorry for her.

That's not a surprise at all in europe, my friend. Even here in Asia there are many case like that. It's their right to do that because it's a crime to sell your virginity for the sake of education even do this is a sin to have someone in bed that is not their husband...Life is very struggling today and we can't blame them...Have a nice day!!!

That is the lamest excuse that i have ever heard. They should rather look for a part time job, than selling their bodies. Sorry, i will not stand to hear excuses for something like that. In my country they will call you a W^^$$e, as easy as that. They should really be ashamed of themselves.I would rather stay without something, than selling myself for money. It is disgusting.

Honestly, if it gets her what she needs to study and she goes about it in a relatively safe manner, I don't really have any problem with it. I'd be more worried about her either a) somehow being cheated or b) getting murdered or some such, than I am about her morals or lack thereof.
It is sort of sad that education is so out-of-reach for some people that they would decide to do this, but frankly I'd rather see someone making a one-time deal like this, getting the money they need to go to school, and then making a real life for themselves, as opposed to being poor forever and possibly having to do more unsavory things to get by.
Of course, I don't really put a lot of value on 'virginity' since I didn't get the option of choosing the loss of mine, so maybe that's why my opinion is different.

It is also the correct time for us to think why education is so costly, that young boys and girls have to go through a lot of tension for completing their education.
we are making the students to think in the wrong way at a very young age . just imagine how helpless she must have been.

Ye,there's a possibility that she had no other alternatives at hand. it's time for the gov's reflection on providing necessary support for financially disadvanged ones.

It is ridiculous how expensive is the college education, when I was in college I was also very desperate all the time because I didn't have money, and on top of that you have to get good grades, but it is the responsibility of the students to remain true to their principles, the ones that their parent teach them when they were young.

Hi, Bill!
Some people have greater respect for their financial needs than for their bodies. They view themselves as chattel, and, therefore, as commodities to be sold to the highest bidder. I find it appalling, but I don't share those values...

Well, we cant judge anybody for whatever they choose in their life.. Maybe her education worth more than her virginity and there is nothing to understand further on that. It's just the simplest way to see it.. Life is always a bargain, you get what you want when you have something to offer regardless what may turn out in the future..To loathe this kind of people is not right, we all come to a point of bargain, whether monetary or not.. Let God judge us later with our decisions

I think its just more proof that values are changing a lot.
S-x and virginity were such taboos things a generationor two ago- now its everywhere on TV shows, movies, magazines, etc. This girls is selling her virginity for a [seemingly] valid purpose, so I don't have a problem with it.

I remembered another American selling herself and of all places, a brothel. In terms of judging her, it would not be fair - since somehow she has a purpose (she wants to pursue college) - unlike others who just want to experience it because of peer pressure.

Especially in a country where education costs a fortune and if you are not rich and cannot get a scholarship then you are unlikely to ever have a chance to study. At least in Australia the government loans the student the money for the course and they pay it back through tax when they get a job after graduation.

"Would you loathe her?"
I don't know how to feel. It's really sad how people would go great lengths just for money. It's stupid. I mean, there are a LOT of other decent ways out there to earn money. But this news isn't uncommon anymore. :-(

Hi mjcookie, I understand your rage on that, sort of betray of one's soul or conscience, is it. but at least she is scrificing for some lofty quest--study, much better than those only seeking for money or pleasure. Her behavior was weird in a way but i feel more pethetic for those people taking on her bidding.

billzehua,
New Zealand girl auctioned her virginity online for studying fees
not only there, but in different places in the world, it is very
awkward to hear it, and it is not at all healthy news to the younger
generation also. WomenHealthOrganization (WHO),Social Networking or
Health Organization should comeforward to take necessary steps
to avoid this kind of awkward works, and at the same time
public should not encourge this kind of awkwrdnes.

You raised my concern indeed, although we have education of those deeds are wrong or unelegant, the youth would still probably follow the lead, even would mistakenly put them in pedestal.

There have been other girls that have done this and it's just crazy. I understand how expensive tuition may be but I wouldn't do something like that. Even if I spent the next twenty years paying off the loans that I have I would rather pay my tuition through the old fashion way of scholarships and loans. I don't think I loathe her because that is her decision. I can't tell someone else what to do with their own body but to me it just seems pretty weird and crazy.

It's sad that our education systems charge so much for their services that students are driven to do this. Education is a really important thing and I don't know why the process of applying to a school and getting the money for college is so hard if our government actually wants us to succeed. Their definitely shouldn't be so many restrictions and the fees should be much lower for someone to be able to learn.

Hi,jambi, it's not just about education, there're many things that only belongs to part of the previliged ones in our society, the gov claims that we are all equal in front of the law, but i m sure that's not the real case whereever it is.

I'm trying to put myself into both of their shoes.
What's in this for the man? He paid 20,000 pounds for the privilege of sleeping with a woman who's scared of the potential pain therefore isn't going to be as much fun in bed as a woman with a little more experience.
On the woman's side? Most men are terrible in bed, and if you've going to lose your virginity to someone who was going to fumble his way through it why NOT take a little cash for the...well, privilege?
I think I would like to be someone's third time. She "knows" it's going to hurt the first time, it "might" hurt the second time, but the third time she can just relax and have fun.

I have heard about this about the girl in the USA. I think its is so disgusting. What is she going to say to the men she eventually dates and or marries. How about the kids she ends up having. I have not a bit of respect for a female selling her virginity. When I first heard this I thought "I have heard it all now".

And hope who sell there virginity one day they will understand there mistake and they will not sell it again. Because virginity is not for sell.
I hope you agree with me my friend.

Hi,mutpal, we dont' know for sure about the real situations over there, sometimes there are people being cornered into siutations like this, even worse, like i heard from the news that a criminal killed a guy's whole familly for revenge just because no one had ever cared about his seek of justice,we feel fury over people coming this far, but every dirt in our soul comes from the society we build, in China, there's a belief from confucious that we are all born innocent.
