For me both yes and no. So I'm on the middle. :) Yes because they can get information easily and can search whatever they need in internet. No because sometimes students just copy and paste the topic or articles and didn't even bother to read it. Second, some students didn't go to school instead they will go to computer shop and play online games. Sometimes Online games are alright because it will widen the imagination of the students but it turns out that it is not good because a lot of students or people addicted on playing. For yoy does computers/internet really help the students?

Yup, my friend. Computer is very helpful for student to learn more and make the good things in it.
But student should be prudent enough to see the bad side of the internet. Not all in the internet is good...have a nice day!!!

I'd like to say internet is useful for student especially the college student. We can read some news, search some information and study courses on the internet. Sometimes I would say that I can live without cellphone but not the internet. But at the meantime, the internet is not so useful. We like to play on it and waste much time. So I think I should manage my time and not so indulged in internet.

Yes I do believe that it helps the students because it has information from the whole entire world on there. Also intstead of just accessing books and resources like that you can access chat rooms or forums on the internet to learn about experiences and people's perspectives on certain topics. I would say that the internet and computers are a great advancement in learning, I just hope that we can utilize it well.

yes, it helps and in a matter of seconds they could access a vast wide of information by accessing internet and they could find lots of information without going to the library to search for their assignments. but it also taught laziness, since some students are tempted to copies lot of articles and even assignment without understanding which result in plagiarism it could happen both offline and online world it is even greater when one could easily stolen one ideas.

computer/internet having both advantages or disadvantages the advantages are many as the disadvantages like student studying in the school want some information in some topic they can get by going on the net and the disadvantage is that it makes the student lazy. the students mostly who are studying in school giving much interest in the internet games rather than study by doing this they will addicted of the games and didn't give concentration on their study this will hamper their career. so it is good if the students or the person makes the use of internet in proper way.

I believe computer really helps the student. I believe there are lot of information we can get in the internet, it is digested with information. What computer offer for us is not only theoretical knowledge but even the actual and the invidence through videos. Like about solar system, before we only have books, we only have pictures, but now through satellite connected to the computer of agency that have scope and study about solar planet, they share what they had studied now and even before through internet. Now we can see the planets on the solar system, our theoretical learning was added with actual investigation about it. My point is, internet can really helps, but as internet have many things in stored for the student like videos, games, social sites and earning site, it is for them what they want to enter. If they want to enter educational site there are many there, even wikipedia will give you knowledge by only reading it. The student will decide if they want to use internet or other sources of education like library with full of books, but for me internet can really helps us when it comes to knowledge. Unfortunately, others use it in different way.

The Internet has a lot of information and it really depends on how the students will use it. Sad thing is that most students are not using Internet at its full potential. In my school community very few don't know how much the Internet can offer other than games like FarmVille. They even don't know that they can actually earn money only through Internet.

i agree with you healthbeauty that it is a yes and no. students can get easy facts in the internet, which they can use in their studies. there are also so many things that they can learn from browsing. however, there is also no guarantee that the facts they can get there is true or not. and students just copy and paste them without reading and understanding them.

When I was still studying in a university I thought that internet is really important so I told my parents I badly need a PC or laptop. I needed it when I was making my thesis. It was really tiresome to go to libraries to get references and expensive to rent on internet shops to get excerpts from articles.
Things can be very useful when you know how to use them efficiently and effectively otherwise it's just waste. Going back in my college days, instead of doing some research for my thesis, I was addicted to social networking. Instead of making my time productive, I wasted them in viewing pictures and reading updates. The purpose of the PC and internet for my studies was only secondary.
Nowadays, people are into social networking, and I bet, every teenager now who asks their parents for a PC or laptop has the purpose in mind - to be able to update their FB or Twitter more often. LOL!

I have to say indeed it helps students with any of their school work. If I remember how it was back then when I was still a student, the internet has helped me a lot compared to my classmates who did not have any access to the internet. I got most of my researches from the internet instead of having to go far to a library to get some information.

Computer really helps students a lot. Everything has positive and negative points. Here positive is that we can get any knowledge from the internet and we can enjoy from internet. But in negative means getting addicted to online games. If we take positive and come out of it, then internet is more useful. It's depends on their interest. So students should come out of the games addiction.

Of course it is. If it wouldn't be for the internet than we would be spending countless hours of our life visiting libraries and going through books just to find that information that wee need. Not to mention that we probably would have to translate a lot of information mainly because not all information available is in our native language. That would also take up a lot of time.
As for your whole copying issue. Yeah, its true that we do copy some stuff from the internet but there are simply certain things that we can't know. Like who came up with what mathematical idea or things like that. But its not like we wouldn't read that info. Its not like we could just pass over work that we got from the internet and make it look like ours without even knowing what the text is about.
As for gaming. Well, its the responsibility of each student to make sure that he doesn't spend his time playing games. I know some people who much rather play games than learning (heck I'm one of them) but if I have to than I get my stuff together and spend my time learning instead of playing games. But if I had to choose between not having and having a PC than the positive aspect would outweigh the negative one.

For me the invention of the modern computer tended to make my teachers lazy. I am blind, and I went to a school for the blind. Many teachers didn't like to translate braille, so they would make us students type everything. Needless to say I got a lot of pratice typing so I type just like any other person on the planet does. But, having to type everyth ing anoyed me and caused my braille-reading skills to suffer greatly. it really

hi, healthbeauty!
i think i'll take your point, what you mentioned are so true. I am currently a student and i found that my computer with internet connection is really come in handy when i need to look for some information for my assignments. However, it also becomes a big distraction for me. It's too bad as i can't even concentrate in my study. so i can't say that computer and internet are really help or not.
