Here we go again! MORE snow! Who would you like to be snowbound with?

This is so old! The warnings began yesterday for a snow storm we should see starting tomorrow morning. This one, they say, will give us between 12 and 20 inches with a possibility of more. After the 33 inches we got in early December, plus what we received between then and now which totals around five FEET of snow, I was hoping to not see snow again for at least the next five years! Anyway, that got me thinking. If you were snowbound, who would you like to be stuck with? It can be anyone, not just your significant other. It can be anyone INSTEAD OF your significant other if you prefer. It can be several people, with or without your significant other. I'm just curious to see who you would choose. Why would you choose this person/persons? What would you want to do while snowbound?

I'd like to haved my sons here. We've always been able to enjoy being together. My husband would bed a damp dishrag but that's his problem. I'd still have fun! Enough is enough whenever you get more snow than you're used to. We've had about five feet already and they've updated our forecast to 18 to 24 inches predicted now so we could potentially have over seven feet before this season is over. I'm waiting to see penguins waddling around and sea lions around our lake! I wouldn't be surprised in the least!

Ah, geez. I didn't mean to say my husband would BED a damp dishrag. LOL He'd BE a damp dishrag. I have a bandage on the end of my finger from when I smashed it in the car door. I have to wear this thing for 6 weeks because I have tendon damage and the tip of my finger was/is crooked. It makes me hit the 'd' almost every time I type an 'e'. I back up and fix what I see but that one slipped past me. Oops.

Our projections are for 6" and I'm going out today to get groceries instead of Saturday--no way do I want to be on the roads with all those idiots who feel they have to be out there! I can't think of anyone I'd want to be snowbound with. I'm happy with just my dogs. People get bored and cranky. The only human I'd want around would be my sister or my mom because when they are bored they find something to do instead of complaining. Actually, they are rarely bored because they take pleasure in each moment, in watching the snow or reading a book or just telling stories. The three of us don't need tv or electricity to enjoy ourselves but deal with what we have and don't complain.

Again, your husband sounds a lot like my ex! You must've lost your electricity when Ike went through, I lost mine for 4 days, too. Mom was here and we had a great time--when it got dark we'd light the candles and tell stories and I learned a lot about what life was like during the depression. I'm glad it happened, that was a special time for me with my mom and getting to know my neighbors. Have a great day! Go out after hubby comes home and enjoy yourself for a few hours!

They're saying 20 to 28 inches now. It has been snowing for about an hour now and there's about 1 1/2 inches on the ground. The heaviest is supposed to be tonight through early Saturday morning. I can't wait to see what I wake up to!

Yep, I felt that way, too, when we got that big dump all at once in December. But in January, we had our traditional thaw, which I also hated, because it was so wet, sloppy and icy overnight when it refroze. I'm Canadian, so I am never satisfied with our weather, as it is always a different story. The local joke around our area, they also say it about Ontario in general, is just wait 15 mins and it will change anyway, so no point complaining. You gotta take what you get. Now, if I could plan who to be snowbound with, it would have to be Sparks and my hubs and maybe her hubs, too. She can cook better than me and is frugal, like me, so won't waste anything. My hubs is great in an emergency about getting things fixed without the proper parts (McGyver), so that is a serious asset if the power goes out or if you are stuck. Although, he is never really snowed in unless he just can't be bothered to plow because he doesn't have anywhere he has to go.

Hahahaha Annie! We said almost the same thing when I lived in Maryland. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes. It'll change. We haven't had a thaw. It has been completely frozen since early December. We've had some above-freezing temperatures but not by much and they didn't last long. I think, at this point, that I would PREFER wet and sloppy, even if it froze again overnight. (Of course, I don't have to drive to work every day so that makes that statement easier to say.) I've already bought all my veggie seeds and ordered the new fruit trees for this year's garden and haved planned where everything is going. I bought a replacement tiller so I'd have it the very first day I can work the dirt. But now I'm worried that I won't be able to have a garden this year because I don't think this cold or snow will EVER stop! I might have to use a snow blower and ice pick to get anything planted this Spring. I'm going to make sure my hubby gets off his lazy butt and uses the snow blower so I'm not snowbound with him again! I doubt I'll have much of a problem. He likes his new toy.

Hello, Marti. I'm a big Cliff Richard fan, so I'd love to be stranded in the snow with him. He could sing to me, and then I'd cook for him, and then we could snuggle up and keep each other nice and warm. If Cliff was snowed in somewhere else, I'd settle for Colin Firth. In his case, we'd read some Shakespeare together before the rest of it.

That sounds ideal! I especially like the snuggling part. Even though he's showing his age now, I'd choose Robert Redford. I've been gaa gaa over him since, oh geez, it must be since the 70's! Yeah, I could see me snuggling up to him. We could talk about environmental stuff and keep each other snuggy warm.

I hope we don't get that much, either. I'm so sick of snow! It figures that we get another big snowstorm now because my husband has had my SUV all week while he's awaiting a new transmission for his truck. The new transmission just got into the shop yesterday afternoon so he probably won't have his truck back until tomorrow which means I'll be getting my SUV back just in time to watch it get totally covered in snow... again. Geez. Well, that's life, huh? LOL Hasn't this been an incredible winter?

We haven't had it as bad as some. I am not looking forward to the snow either. We are supposed to take my son to the doctor 1 1/2 hours away in the morning. I am watching the weather and no one can agree on when it will start getting nasty. It is supposed to start with freezing rain and I don't want stuck in it.

I truly hope the bad weather holds off long enough for you to take your son to the doctor's and you both get back safely before it starts. They are saying it should start here in the afternoon. I'm in Virginia, in the mid-Atlantic. We seem to have been getting the worst of it this year.

I'm in Virginia, in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. Normally, we don't get the worst of the winter weather but this year we've had it pretty bad. It sounds like you have a wonderful family. I wouldn't mind being snowbound with my sons at all. They are much like me in that we can always find something interesting to do and share. My husband, unfortunately, turns into a vegetable and will just stare at the TV for the most part. Oh, well. Guess I'll be snowbound with my myLot family. That can be a LOT of fun!

Hey Marti, I miss you. I'd like to email at least. This is a good post. I would choose some of my friends from here at Mylot, especially you. I know I can't use names which really sucks, but I can think of at least maybe up to 10. Boy would we have fun as long as we had plenty of food and drink and a big fire going in the fireplace. I think we would need several days to get all the stories and laughter out. That would be incredible. Don't forget the snow angels!!! Hugsssss Leenie

I would like to be snowbound with you. Why? Because, I like you for one thing, and second, I like you. I was just thinking. Since you seem to be having ALL the snow down there, perhaps we should be holding the Vancouver Winter Olymics in your back yard. We could enter a new catagory too. SNOW ANGELS! Who can make the best one? cd

Aww, shucks! Thank you! I'd LOVE it if I could have a huge get-together with my favorite people here and you (and commander) would definitely be included! Oh, we could have such fun in this winter... uh... wonderland. Believe me, you guys can have all the snow you can cart up there. I heard that snow had to be trucked in for the Olympics. That's just plain wrong! You guys should be getting all the snow and we should be getting ready to start our gardens right now. Somebody's got to have a talk with Mother Nature! I like the idea of a Snow Angel category for the Olympics. We could definitely have it here. LOL

Well if it was allowed I would rather be on my own, sad I know. But if I have to choose someone to be with or more than one then it would be my two favourite movie critics Roger Ebert and Mark Kermode along with my two favourite actors Clint Eastwood and Rober De Niro. Well I think you can guess what the main discussions would be about but I would have such a wonderful time picking the brains of these cinema icons.

Oh, it's not so sad. I know quite a lot of people who would prefer to be snowbound by themselves. Sometimes, having other people around can get on your nerves, especially if you couldn't get away once in a while. I would choose Robert Redford because, in my eyes, not only has he been quite a hunk for many, many decades (even though he is kind of old now) but because he's quite an environmentalist. We'd have quite a lot to talk about.

We don’t get snow here so this is a real fantasy! I guess if I can’t be snow bound with Jon Bon Jovi I will have to pick my family because and my pets could not bear not seeing then even for a short time! I can understand why you would pick Jon Bon Jovi. Nothing wrong with that! LOL I'd have to choose my family as well. My two dogs get upset when I go outside for one minute. They'd never handle being without me for any big length of time. I also have a cat who follows me everywhere and would be lost if I were stuck somewhere else. (This weird cat even goes fishing with me when I go down to the lake. He's my fishing buddy, although he always forgets to bring his rod and reel. He keeps all the bugs away from me. LOL) They've updated the total amount we're supposed to get. It's now up to 18 to 24 inches. I hope they don't update it again unless it's to tell us we'll be getting less!

Hey, neighbor! Welcome to myLot! I live in northern Virginia, in Winchester. West Virginia practically surrounds us! lol I understand completely what you're saying about being alone. I used to work at home and was raising two sons. I would say the same if I were still working. Teenagers are not human, at least mine weren't! At the age of 14, they morphed into some kind of alien creatures. I didn't recognize them again until they were maybe 18 or 19. I hope you're all prepared for this storm. I'm prepared, at least for creature comforts. In my mind, though, I'll never be prepared. Gardening is my absolutely favorite thing to do and it's hard to even imagine what my garden will look like with all this snow covering everything. We've had WAY too much of it this year! Good luck to you! Stay safe!

Hi LDB! Yes, PLEASE don't go hiking this weekend! I'd have horrible thoughts of the rangers finding you sometime late this Spring once all this stuff melts! I'm east of both of you in that other 'Northern Virginia' or NOVA as it is known around the DC metropolitan area. Actually, I am just south of that area. Yep, getting ready to hunker down for the latest onslaught of that white crap. *sighs heavily* VA is definitely getting hit this winter (we've been lucky for too many years, I guess). Just gonna be me and my 2 cats, and that's the way I like it. We don't get on each other's nerves. Guess I won't plan on hiking in Shenandoah NP this weekend (although I have been up there in the snow -- a little chilly, but awesome!)

So very sorry, dear girl...to see that your blanket of snow is getting a lot deeper! I hate to reply as I almost feel like I am gloating. It is 58F, right now...sunshine...nights about 42, daffodils almost ready to bloom, polyanthus in full bloom, Irises up, as well as hyacinths! This afternoon am rototilling my gardens....and you thought it was colder in Canada! First time in my life, I have entertained thots of cold & snow...as we have the Olympics in 8 days! To be snowbound, selfishly....I would like to share that time with the Dahli Llama (sp)...and or Mother Teresa (even tho' passed!) Or Robert Bateman for indepth painting lessons....Mike Holmes for Construction lessons! Oooooh, my list is long! Take your Vitamin D...and conjure up thots of spring, whilst perusing those seed catalogues, dear lady! Take care and Cheers!

Do you ever wish you had an ENERGY BANK??? At times, like you are facing right now, cold and snowing outisde...and curled up by the fire reading the newest seed catalogue...you could opt to put all that unused energy in a BANK...there to withdraw when needed in the Spring? I sure do...and WOW could I ever get a lot more accomplished. For me...in winter, the light runs out before the enegy..and in summer, the energy runs out before the light!Oh for an energy bank! LOL! I notice...you didn't comment on my choice of companion's, that's probably cuz you are a nice friend and don't want to hurt my feelings! LOL! HUGZ & Cheers!

Oh, by all means, gloat away, pergy! Hearing how nice it is there puts warm thoughts in my head and that's better than nothing! I'm afraid my daffodils won't be peeking through the soil for awhile yet. Heck, I doubt I'll even SEE the soil until late Spring! You should see my seed catalogues, they're well read already. I've already ordered all my veggie seeds and fruit/nut trees I plan to plant this year but keep looking through the catalogues in case I missed something I can't live without. I'm hoping that my poppies will have the chance they never really got last year. Sadly, I just may need a snow blower and ice pick to plant anything this Spring! This is the worst winter I can ever remember, even going back to when I was a child and snow always seemed deeper than it actually was. No other year has come close. Well, that's not exactly true. One year, 1979, we got five feet of snow dumped on us in a two-week span but we've already had five feet and this storm could put us over seven feet in total. But, I plan to make the most of it. I've bought plenty of shop lamps with cool fluorescent tubes so I can start quite a lot inside. I made sure to also have enough potting soil and peat pots/pellets to start all my seeds. Plus, I plan to have a bit of fun outside, probably on Saturday or maybe Sunday, depending on how bad the snow is falling. They're saying we will be getting blizzard conditions at times and I think I'll want to spend that time inside. But, I'll definitely make a snow angel or two and have my husband take pictures so I can share them here. I'd take a video but then you'd laugh at this old gal trying to get up out of the snow. I have my Vitamin D (plus C) already in hand!

I'm from Maryland and it's snowing right now. I'm disabled and use a power scooter to get around. When it snows I'm stuck inside until walks and streets have been shoveled. Even then my trips out are limited because it all freezes over to ice when it starts to melt and the temp drops again. The scooters don't come with snow tires or chains. Big Bummer to me. It's pretty to watch coming down though!!

Cool! Another neighbor! I'm in Virginia right now but moved here three years ago from Maryland. Hey! Maybe you could invent snow chains for scooters? I'm disabled but don't need a scooter. Still, I won't walk on ice or packed-down snow. If I fell, well, I just don't want to think about that. I couldn't walk too far in deep snow, either, so I'm pretty much stuck here until things get cleared. I have two dogs and a cat who would all keep me company if I were snowbound. They'd keep me company plus would be good to snuggle with to keep warm, even though the dogs are tiny Maltese. They're excellent snugglers. LOL I hope you don't get as much as is predicted here. They've updated the predicted amount to 20 to 30 inches now and I have the feeling we'll get over 30 inches. That big storm we had in December dumped 33 inches on us, even though the offical total was 22 inches. They should have come here to measure the snow. Well, I wish you well. Stay warm and safe!

George Clooney, he'd be quite entertaining with the added bonus that he's easy on the eyes. Josh Groban, I could listen to him sing for days on end, plus, he's easy on the eyes. I'm familiar with the snowbound concept. We live on a mountain in PA, we have snow when no one else has it. We still have snow from the last go 'round, it didn't melt. We just keep shovelling, and shovelling, and shovelling and....you get the drift (pun intended). Today the schools are starting their early dismissals, that makes the kids happy. I'm just happy I don't have to drive for the next several days. Driving on the mountain when it's snowy or icy puts me into panic mode, I'm more of a hazard for the other drivers than myself.

Just think, one day this will just be a memory. Yeah I know what you mean though. It reminds me of '93 when we had the blizzards. I thought it would never end, the snow was piled so high on either side of our driveway that our neighbors couldn't tell I was out shovelling, they couldn't see me. It was over 5 ft. deep. My daughter is driving tractor trailor in PA somewhere, I'm concerned that she'll be all right. I'm staying home, I have lots of yarn to crochet with, we have a generator in case the power goes out (happens frequently here), there's plenty of food in the pantry so I have no need to go anywhere. Oooh, I just heard on the news - three inches an hour. What a mess!

I'm sure there are quite a few people who would love to get snowbound with George Clooney. LOL I'm in the mountains of northern Virginia, not far! What makes this snow even more odd is that the past two years have been virtually snowless. We got a bit of snow but not much, only a few inches, total. We got 7 or 8 inches last Saturday, then another 4 inches on Tuesday, now this. Those last two snows haven't melted, either. Plus, they've updated what is expected today and tomorrow to 20 to 28 inches. That's on top of the stuff already on the ground. In December, we got 33 inches. I know because I put a tape measure in the snow. The so-called "experts" said we got 22 inches. I don't know where they measured but it sure wasn't here! That has me a bit worried now because, if they said we got 22 inches when we actually got 33 inches, and they're expecting up to 28 inches now, we may just get over 3 feet of snow with this storm. I know, it's a bit of a stretch but definitely possible. I guess we'll know by Saturday night. All I know is that we'll have to shovel a few times today and throughout tomorrow or we won't be able to open the doors! Good luck to you and stay safe!

I'd be quite happy being snowbound with a huge St. Bernard carrying a small cask of brandy 'round his neck. The two of us could get drunk together, so that we that wouldn't give a dang as to whether it snowed or not.....'course, I'd have to let him out from time to time to "do his thing", but at least I'D still be inside...with the cask! Hopefully by the the time Spring arrived, we'd both become sober, and the snow would've all melted away. ;-) cdrxo

I might need that flame thrower! We've just been updated again: 20 to 28 inches now expected. I might need to melt the snow to get to the snow blower! LOL I'd start packing my bags right now for a trip up north but I have no transportation! My husband's truck is STILL in the shop, supposedly having the new transmission (that just arrived at the shop yesterday) put in today, but, well, who knows? I have the feeling that everyone who can will be leaving work early today. My husband is on his way home now. It would be AWESOME if he got snowbound at work but no such luck. I'd have a blast piddling around the house by myself, with my furry friends for company. There's already over an inch out there now and it's coming down pretty hard. I think that, by the time he's home, there will be at least half a foot of snow out there. His normal commute takes about one and a half hours. There's still hope that I'll get a call telling me that he's stuck somewhere between here and there and needs to hunker down wherever he is. Aren't I bad?

We had a light "dusting" here in Toronto yesterday, and that's the most snow we've seen all season thus far. Seems like we've become the new Fort Lauderdale this year! "Everybody head to the Lake Ontario beach!" Yeah, right. Good luck with your snow blower, and be thankful you didn't need that flame thrower...at least not yet. Cheers Marti; cdrxo

I would be just happy with my pet. She will warm me up and we will stay cuddled together. She is such a joy to be with. We will both sleep away as long as we wish. She loves to sleep but then when it is cold I think I too would follow suit.

Aww! I have two Maltese dogs who cuddle with me every chance they get anyway so I'm sure we'd be cuddling a lot if I couldn't get out.

haha,it's the same question as "What would you do and who would you prefer to stay with if tomorrow will be the end of the world" . My answer will be my family, since they the ones that I would keep company with for a very long time.

You're the first person to actually answer my question! That sounds wonderful, being snowbound with your family. I'd like that, too. Well, I mean I'd like to be snowbound with MY family, not yours.
