Earlier when there was no concept of electronics, electricity was there. With introduction of semiconductor and integrated circuits in electrical circuits the name electronics originated. Now a days the size of electronics devices has reduced to the size of our nails. Earlier it was of a size greater than a room. This is only possible by use of ICs

Yes, an integrated circuit is a collection of electronic components laying in a single die of semiconductor material, that is no more than a few millimeters wide, forming a complex circuit on it, an actual computer microprocessor could contain more than 300 millions of transistors in the die.
As the construction techniques make the size of each component smaller, it makes possible to put more components inside an IC, forming circuits more complex, powerful, and that require less energy to function.
