Are these PTC sites a waste of time?

Has anyone made any real money on thes sites? At a penny a click you have to click 100 time to make $1.00 that is a lot of work for $1.00. And a lot of time. Is it worth it to anyone. I guess o all these types of sites you have to have a lot of referrals? How do you get referrals? Does anyone know any other ways to make money?
