The Apple company of Cupertino California has just unveiled it's latest must have toy. I mean business machine. The iPad. Apparently this name has caused amusement and offence as it sounds something like a female sanitary aid. The alternative could be to call this handheld screen with a fantastic computer behind it the "iTablet". Now this is quite some tablet at almost 10" tall and 7.5" wide. How would you swallow it and what would it cure?

hi pikey . so Apple is coming out with this gadget and all are intrigued by it.Ipad indeed. maybe I could rest my arm on the thing so my left arm will not spasm so much while I am typing 'here. maybe it could cure my technitis so I would know a bit more about what to do when my computer crashes or balks or just has some sort of belly ache? an arm rest and a hand computer wow what a thing that would be. I have a bionic left shoulder joint which left my left arm unable to lift it up like I can my right one. so sometimes in typing I get muscle cramps in that arm that are like spasms and I have to let my left arm sink down more into my lap.lol lol lol. modern miracles are not always so good not like your own shoulder joint which lets you raise you arm to any height you wish .

Don't be silly! You know it's not that kind of tablet but the ten commandments type.

When I first heard about the iPad it sounded really familiar..then I saw a blurb about a Mad TV sketch about the iPad in 2007. Strangely enough, it was about what you would think but they also mentioned Apple in the sketch.
But...if there were such a tablet as you propose, I would think it would cure something big! Maybe politicians' egos.....nah, not even Steve Jobs could find a cure for that!!

Yes, I've heard about this. I have no desire for one myself, but I know several people who would love one. I didn't think about it sounding like a female sanitary product, but now you mention it, it is a bit unfortunate!!
I wouldn't try to swallow it, and it would be more likely to cause you health problems if you did, certainly not cure anything. (Or am I being too literal, lol!! I'm afraid it's just too late in the day for a cleverer answer than that..)

I was amused by the name some.. They are outrageous in pricing. But I guess they made them as the "need to own item" till the next new items sweeps in to leave the IPad in the dust. Shoot starting prices of $499.00 wow..You can get a laptop for that if not cheaper..with all the bells and whistles. Although it does have alot of useful features that would be awesome to have and use.

That's the beauty of the English language. Some people just can't keep their minds out of the gutter. haha
How about the:
iFlat-thing? LOL
I don't see a problem with iPad, and I didn't think of it's relation to female sanitary products until you just mentioned it. LOL

Hello, Pikey. This reminds me of the old lady who went to the doctors with arthritis in her feet. He gave her some big pink tablets and told her to come back in a week if she wasn't any better. The tablets were huge, and as she was trying to get the first one down, she choked on it and was rushed to hospital. Wen she went to the doctor's the next week, she told him the tablets had almost killed her.
The doctor said, 'How can a tablet kill you?' The old lady replied, 'I choked trying to swallow it. 'Silly old fool,' said the doctor'If you'd read the instructions, you'd have realised you were supposed to dissolve them in water and then soak your feet.'
I think that's what I'd do with this tablet. What would it cure? Just about everything, I would think.

She knows already. She's very rude to me when I tell her that it's "Keep Fat". She's the youngest at 86 and the oldest is 94 I think. They are a formidable group of ladies. Do you remember the Giles cartoons. The group are like Grandma but with way more attitude! LOL.

I do not like the terms toy when I comes for new products. For me, toy means something you will eventually break and something that will not help you such as playing some video games and wasting time playing solitaire. I told my friend that I am the type of person who will break something deliberately even if it cost me a lot if they keep insisting it is a toy.
I think for someone who finds it hard to read small print, the Ipad would be great. I am not into games, and it would also be good for listening to music, reading or doing something that you do not want to turn on your computer for.
But for me, a must have has to have must have for a reason. The name does not matter, since they could have said Itablet./ I think they used the term Ipad, because they already used I in front of things -such as Ipod, IMac, etc.
