were you ever required to stay later than your regular shift at work? if yes, how long did you stay? why? did you enjoy?
i have experienced staying 12 - 14 hours in the office. and i have no plans of doing that again. but i'm not sure if there would be a time that i would be required to do so again. of course, i can't say no, unless i'm already dying. next week, i would be required to render over time again. hopefully the task would be finished fast and i could go home as soon as possible.
share your experience!

I have done very little overtime really apart from a few times when I was working at McDonalds and when I did Factory work. I did work as a Christmas Temp at a Music Store in 2007 and was asked at the end of my shift if I wanted to do some overtime that night but I said that I couldn't, I would have done it if I had been asked earlier but I was ready to go at the end of my shift.

it's really a hassle if you are asked to stay at work specially if you already have plans after work. i hope your boss did not take that against you.

Nope, They understood and I think they said something like "I know it's short notice but".

Several years ago, I worked a 23½ hour shift. From 4 AM one morning to 3:30 AM the next. It was a load-in/load-out for an Aerosmith/KISS concert. 4 hr. minimum for load-in and 4 hr. minimuum for load-out. Everything else was OT. Nice paycheck!

yes, that should be a very beautiful paycheck! but sometimes, OT pay is not enought to compensate for the fatigue it brings. but yeah, it's sweet to receive the paycheck for it.

Well, when I was working as a night guard at the construction site, I had a 15 hours long workshifts. It wasn't kind of over time, but still it is longer than common 8-hour workday. The job wasn't hard at all, because all I had to do was patrolling around the construction site and sitting in my guard booth, watching TV. The worst thing about these shifts was keeping myself awake until morning. I usually felt quite devastated in the end of the shift.
