There were three men on a sinking boat, what should they do?

There were three men on a sinking boat.
The first said, "We need to start patching the boat else we are going to drown. We should all bail and patch."
The second said, "We will run out of water in ten days, if we don't make land fall. We need to man the rigging and plot a course."
The third said, "We should try and build a more sea worthy ship. One that wasn't leaking and had more room for provisions, then we wouldn't have had this problem in the first place. It also needs to be shark-proof."
For these men the choose is perhaps clear but for us?

For me, it's moot to hark for a better boat since it's not here and the current one is obviously sinking. Got to address the immediate concern for survival and that is not to let the boat sink, thus, I would have to bail and patch. Then the second concern is to prolong survival and the reasonable thing to do is find land where there is food and water, thus, I would have to plan and chart a course to find land. Then the next intelligent thing to do, after survival and finding land, is never to find myself again on the same measly boat but to build or be in a much better seaworthy one. In life, we make a lot of mistakes. The first thing to do is get out of such mesh and then avoid making the same mistake all over again.

Well, in many ways perhaps it is the same but I wonder if we have too many people bailing and not enough mending the rigging?

The first thing I would do is pray "help O Lord! help!" then bail.. and patch.. and then chart a course.. and then build a better boat for the next trip..

Wise choice for the men in the boat but what about the boat we are in?

Hi Urban! "What about the boat we are in?" well we should take good care of it, but if someone says it's about to sink, we should look to see if it's true or not, if it's simply natural cycles of things, or someone trying to conjstrue a crises for powers sake.. As far as personally, and I am concerned, the back of the book I read, and the faith I discovered supernaturally, says "all things will be made new" and I've been enriched enough in life to believe it.. I'm so rich with friends and family and this beautiful earth and universe, but yet don't trust in man for the solutions.. no way! If we have to depend upon flawed man, all is lost anyway, cause that requires strong central world government and power (when involved with flawed (fallen)mankind always corrrupts. I see no evidence to believe man is evolving into benevolent rulership to repair the boat.. contraire.. if things go from bad to worse and resources get short.. and power is in the hands of some.. look out. And there you have the book of revelation/apocalypse in a nutshell. Holding out hope or hoping in man kind to fix things? not me. no way. no how.
