You're So Vain

We all like to present a certain image of ourselves to the world. Some people can't go out without make-up. Others have to be dressed a certain way. Have brushed hair etc. Personally I don't like to go out without shaving as I think it makes me look a slob. What will you not go out without doing first?

Hello, Pikey. I'm not really vain, and I certainly wouldn't stop to put make up on - I only do that when we go out for an evening or to a special occasion like a wedding. However, I like my hair to look nice, so that's combed and tidied, and I also like a squirt of perfume, so that's what I do before leaving the house.

Naughty Pikey! You're deliberately misunderstanding me. Of course, I will be wearing clothes. As it is over 20 degrees here today, though, they will only cover the minimum required for decency and good taste. What time shall I pick you up from the airport?

I wont go out naked!
Ok theres days (if im just going to my moms house) i havent brushed my hair but If i'm going out around non family members hair has to be brushed, teeth brushed, clothing on and neat...
I wont go on a date without shaving my legs! Not because i think someone might see but because doing it makes me feel hmm "sexy" and oddly enough the whole process makes me relax rather than stress about the upcoming date. Maybe thats why other girls like make up (makeup makes me itch!)

Brushing my Teeth, washing my Face and brushing my Hair
That is when I am in a rush like when little Fellow has to go out oh I get dressed to
When not in a rush, have a shower, wash my Hair, dry my hair, put my bit of make up on and my Body spray or Perfume whichever I decide and Deodorant oh yes and being dressed
Now I would go without all in a real rush but I certainly would not go anywhere without being dressed xxx

I definitely can live without the Brazilian, Czech or Tongan/Tangon/Tongon! whatever. Yep, I had just responded to one of your discussions.
I can't seem to go out of the house without having to bath first. That's the only thing that's vain about me. Out there, I am very plain and simple. Other people mistake me to be boring. Guess what! They're right!

When I said "go out of the house", I meant it like 'go to work', or 'do the groceries', anything that keeps me out of the house for an entire day.
I try not to wait until I feel the need otherwise I would already smell like I'm bringing on the Apocalypse.
Oh, just in case I didn't brief you about me, I'm from the Philippines. With the tropical we got over here, most of us can't live a day without bathing.

i'll go out however i look sometimes... most of the time ill wear just basic make up, but i think thats just a self confidence thing... i feel better with it, and with half of my fringe in my face... instead of having it out of my face :) hahaha. if its just my local shopping centre i sometimes dont worry about my hair, what i wear or make up... ill happily look like a slob! lol... but if im going out more during the day ill wear make up and stuff hahaha.

I am like that too, but most of the time, I just go out however I look. I do not worry how people sees me. Because I only think "What the heck! They don't know me!" But if I am going out with my husband, I had to look good, always! So he won't have to look to other girls..heheheh

Even without the make ups i think you will still look pretty. Such a beauty like yours would be an eye turner.

vanity is closely associated with insecurity. those who put up images are insecure with their own natural self. but, in time, people mature and reconcile a lot of things about themselves. they become more natural... i think, vanity is more prominent at certain stages in our lives...

you remember when you were beginning to be conscious about your hair? your face? your clothing? and just about everything in your body and what you are wearing. those are the years when we are approaching adulthood, a stage in our life where we become conscious of these things... but that's still alright. but what's wrong is to magnify these concerns as we grow old. it's okay to be concerned about these things... that's normal, even decent. but when you compare and try to outdo others and become a showoff, that's the beginning of another stage in our lives where vanity becomes the order of the day...

Brushing my teeth? I mean i can go without make-up, with my shorts and a shirt and with my hair pulled up into a pony tail without combing it but i can't go out without brushing my teeth. I don't feel comfortable talking or meeting people without brushing my teeth.

Hey P1key! I knew that you were the true gentleman! I don't
like to go out without makeup! I will go out to the store once
in awhile if it is a necessity and I am being lazy, but most
times I won't leave the house without my makeup being done and
my hair too! And I have to have on decent clothes! I have clothes
that I will wear "only in the house"! I have already gotten
caught taking out the garbage in those and that was embarassing
enough! If I have to walk down the hill to the stores I must
be appropriately "put together"! And sometimes it is such a
pain!

The first thing I do when I get up is have a wash, either in the sink or in the shower. I could not function without splashing water on me or brushing my teeth. My husband, however, is a different story.

I have the same opinion as you i can't go out without shaving but also I can't go out without brushing my hair, but I think many people go to extremes like don't go out without make up, or don't go out if they don't look perfect, in my opinion, it has a lot to do with how you perceive yourself, and how high or low is your self-esteem. I always like to look as natural as possible, obviously there some sanitary rules that I have like, I don't go out if I haven't shower, brush my hair, brush my teeth, shave my legs, etc.

I'm just happy to be comfortable, I like very plain colours, and because of my short hair, I just have to run a brush through it, and I'm ready to go in about five minutes. LOl My husband is amazed at how quickly I can get ready when we are going to go somewhere. I have never been interested in makeup, and I'm not about to start wearing it now.

Showering or bathing! I can't stand going out dirty, really. I don't mind if I get dirty once I'm already out -- I splash in mud puddles with the best of them! -- but I have to feel like I made the effort to be clean.
Other than that, there isn't really anything. I don't really dress to suit anyone's tastes but my own, and I really don't care what I look like or how big a mess my hair is or what anyone thinks of the fact that I don't wear makeup.
... Though I have discovered it is a good idea to put on clothes before I go out. The masses tend to protest otherwise.

I know! I can't believe I sort of randomly decided to pop on mylot today! O.O
We're having a pretty crazy time, as usual. I left my husband, moved to Tennessee, and while I have some serious financial issues, I'm a lot happier being on my own! Dusty is almost four years old, but the developmental delays caused by his epilepsy have caused him to be more like a really big one-year-old. He's a sweet kid, though, and we're going to make it! I'm determined!

I don't go anywhere without brushing my hair and putting on earrings. I have a lot of earrings and sometimes I get lazy and wear simple gold hoops instead of going through them all and picking a pair that's more elaborate or shinier. I've never worn makeup so I don't have to bother with that.
It's nice to know there's men that still take pride in their appearance. Here, men will go about unshaven, their fingernails are filthy and their shoes are dirty, too. Even on a weekend when most don't work, many of them look like slobs. Women don't put forth a whole lot of effort either but at least their faces aren't covered with stubble. A man who hasn't shaved looks rather seedy, especially if he hasn't gotten a haircut for awhile and the back of his neck is all icky with hair growing back.

Geez, P1key! I sitting here in my pj's, the sun hasn't even peeked above the horizon and you've already had a shave and a haircut!
I don't have to worry about going out today, we will have blizzard conditions very shortly here. Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep more and why I'm up so early today.
