what's the real aim for obama to meet dalailama?

i think obama won't benefit from it.but it will hurt the relationship between china and america.what's real purpose?

Well, relations are already hurting as it os so I can't imagine this doing much more damage. It doesn't matter anyways, it seems that with the Chinese government, if we aren't outright kissing their asss they get upset...tibet...Taiwan, trade agreements, etc....the list is endless. Honestly though, what is the issue? Why would china care that our leader is meeting with a man of peace like the Dalai Lama? Is it REALLy going to hurt china? I'm tired of worrying about offending other nations every time we turn around, we need to do what is best for US and stop worrying about what the rest of the world thinks about us. I admit, I can't stand Obama, he is a complete farce as a president and I disagree with nearly every policy and ideology the man has...but THIS I will give him praise for.
