I know only two languages. But I like to watch good movies in any language, even I don't know. But I avoid comedy movies. Because its hard to understand that kind of movies.I watch other kind of action and horror movies. It will be better if there is sub-title. Even if there is no sub-title, I will watch and try to understand. So what about you? Do you like to watch movies in a language you don't know?

we know that there are lots of good movies everywhere. and even if we love our own, there are foreign movies that we want to see. there are a lot of movies in cd and dvd being sold elsewhere. even here in the philippines, we can find a lot of movies, even in the sidewalks, they are being sold. and even if we know that it is illegal, we still buy them, people buy. i have seen a lot of foreigh movies and loves them too. but of course, as you said, even if there is subtitle, it is better if we can understand the dialogue and the story by just watching the movie, and no more reading the subtitle. sometimes, i would say that i wish, the movie is in tagalog, the local dialect that i understand best.

Yeah they are many good movies in many languages. We can understand it, if we know the story, else sub-titles help us to understand the movie.

No matter what the language is, if they provide subtitles, then i would be happy to watch the movie. But for Mandarin, English and Indonesian movie, i try my best to watch without subtitles. It trains my language ability. if there is no subtitles for movies with other languages that i mentioned before, i would not want to watch it no matter how good it is. Coz i can not understand the story. even if its horror/ action movie.

well! u can try to understand the movie with emotions in actors faces. Then, yeah as you said, other language movies help us to be some more well versed in that language.

Well! there's no point in watching movie, if we cant understand the theme of the movie. But this is not the case always, I saw some french and chinese movies and understood it. But some of the times, I wont understand. I will stop those in mid-way.

Only popular movies that I get on DVD that have other languages available. I would watch it a few times in English, and then switch to French (the most popular besides Spanish) or whatever is available. I tried learning Japanese but it was driving me insane. Then the anime Hikaru No Go came out and the name sounds like Hishkaru. I gave up then and there. Until I can have an actual Japanese instructor tell me what's going on.

No, not really but I did watch the movie The Passion of Christ and had the English going across the bottom.... I did not really need it though because even though it was in a different language it was a very moving movie..... It was one of the greatest movies I ever watched.... there was a few things that was not accurate but Mel Gibson did a tremendous job on it.....

It really took my breath away to see how they treated our Jesus and Saviour on the cross..... It was really a graphic movie.... but I think everyone needs to watch it atleast once.

I like it sometimes, but not all that often because you can't multi-task while you're watching a foreign film. Whenever I watch visual input, I'm usually writing on my computer at the same time. This is why my computer is located so close to my TV. If I'm watching a foreign film I have to dedicate two hours or ninety minutes or however long a film is to doing nothing but staring at it. I get too bored to do this.

I only like to watch movies in the English language. I don't want to watch it if it's in another language only because I feel dumb for not knowing what they are talking about. I do like to hear other people talk in different languages because I think it sounds neat but I don't like to watch movies in other languages.

When I was young I was mesmerized by the Chinese kung fu movies, I learned that they have other genres so I would ask my mom if she could rent all the movies that are from China. As most Asian movies are subtitled or dubbed in various different languages, I learned a lot about my language so it helped me become a better speaker. Then blockbuster and hollywood video had other movies in french, spanish and even german. I learned French in high school so I would go to the library to take out French movies on VHS. Then when I found that Blockbuster had them, I got a membership. A couple years back, I noticed the Koreans coming up in the arts. There movies were of spectacular quality and politically they went to the extreme of which even their own country cannot censor what is making them international fame. So yeah, I'm into Korean movies at the moment. You can even check them out on television as they are now subtitled.

i like watching korean movies bec theyre easy to find and they're good too. i like watching films with a different language bec when you get used to it, you wont even notice that youre reading the lines while watching the scenes unfold, so there, i like it

I have grown to like foreign movies more and more as main stream cinema has gone down the pan. For some reason those movies made in say Italy for example seem to have better storylines or develop a predictable storyline in a new way which Hollywood wouldn't think of doing. What I often find is that foreign movies seem to tell the story more through what you are watching, actors expressions and reactions that quite often you don't need the subtitles to understand as just the way they express words in their own language helps to tell the story and deliver emotion.

Yup! from emotions in their faces we can understand whats happening over there. It feels quite difficult in beginning, But we feel easy when we get used to watch that kind of movies.

Suspense movies! I didn't tried it in a new language. I am thinking it will be difficult to understand a suspense movie in a language I dont know. Well, I will try it once and see how challenging it was.

I love to watch movies in different languages. I'm working on my second language, but I'll watch any movies if it looks like it will be good. I check the plot and reviews and it's usually easy to get subtitles for most movies. My biggest weakness is Japanese movies and tv show even though I don't know the language.

We used to watch a lot of chinese movies, but those normally have english dubbing. I would also sometimes watch foreign language films that have english subtitles but if those are too small, I give up.

I know Hindi and English and like to watch movies in these two languages only. There is no point watching a movie if I do not understand the language. Its good to watch some horror movie sometime which does not need much to hear and scenes are enough to understand.

No i don't. It's like somebody is talking sabout you, you know this but you can't understand anything. A solution would be a subtitle...
