John Terry Sacked as Captain

This afternoon Fabio Capello sacked John Terry as England captain because of all the bad publicity regarding his alleged affair. Apparantly Rio Ferdinand will be taking over as captain.
Personally I feel that Capello had little choice but to strip JT. The captain really should set an example and JT failed miserably on that point.

I back Capello's decision to strip Terry of the captaincy not because he has had extra marital affairs but his actions have caused a rift in the preparations for the World Cup and a certain amount of loss of respect from other players. Add to this his capitalization of the position with touting his private wembley box and there really was no choice but to remove him.
Of course we will now have those saying that this was wrong and we have lost the teams leader at a critical time. But one man doesn't make a team and there are enough strong leaders to take his place as captain.

Hello, Madmillionaire. Terry had to go, because he'd lost the respect of his team mates and the fans. The last thing we need at the moment is for the English team to become a laughing stock. Respect is hard won and easily lost, and I think if Capello hadn't removed Terry as Captain, he as Manager would also have lost credibility. I think Lampard, Gerrard or even Rooney would all be good replacements.

I wouldn't go as far as saying he was Sacked as Captain because that would probably mean that he would not even be in the squad as mostly if someone was sacked from the captaincy it would be because of a falling out. I don't see this as a falling out but Capello believes he should replace Terry as captain for his actions.
