Christians Need to Be More Radical Today

Too many Christian churches today just go along the trend in the world. For instance, how many of you have churches that celebrate Mothers or Fathers Day and hinges the church program on that? They invite a speaker who's father of a family, they honor fathers, the ushers are fathers, the afternoon fellowship is for fathers, and they give gifts to fathers.
Mothers or Fathers Day was invented by businessmen to perk up sales. If churches just follow these occasions and base their programs on them, they're led by the world, not anymore by the Spirit of God.
We should honor our father and mother, but in a way that is Spirit-led.

Here in UK we had al but got rid of Christmas until Dicken's book, A Christmas Carol made it popular again. I am sickened and disheartened that it has become a festival of greed. A little of topic maybe but I agree we must be more true to the Word, me particularly

i agree with your statement it seem that the christian churches today is just doing it to make themselves busy to the service of the Lord at any more GOD Spirit lead
what worse is that the christian churches today is making GOD to obey them not they obey GOD will it is that they (church)want GOD to obey them thru thier program not GOD commandment

I see nothing wrong with celebrating mothers and fathers day in church. My gripe would be that its not done every day which you are suppose to respect your parents all the time. After all Jesus first miracle was at the request of his mother.

But, why can't it be both. After all Jesus was of the spirit and of the flesh. I think that we do a disservice to the church if we are not in the world spreading the good news about Jesus. I agree that Mother's day and Father's day are not real holidays, but a church should use those days to highlight the contributions of Mothers and Fathers. With the progressive's assault on the family and the government's policies designed to take family decisions away from parents, I think that there are plenty of things for Christian's to be radical about.
