Since john terry sacked from being the captain of england, Fabio Capello just made it clear that the position of captain in the Three Lions will be hold by either Lampard or
Gerrard. But there is a new name came out. Wayne Rooney are 100% possibly to be the captain of England. Cappelo said that he really moved by the way Rooney shows his leadership in Manchester United whenever he became a captain. But in Alex Ferguson eyes, Wayne Rooney would never be CAPTAIN for Manchester because his position in the field is middle striker. I totally agree, because a midfielder always wear the captain band because they can see the field better and arrange a play better than a striker. So a striker is really not suitable to be a Captain. Sorry Rooney, even though you are a great player and a great play maker, you should stick to be a striker to put goals behind the net rather than a striker who plan the play and assist others.

Well it appears that Rio Ferdinand has been made captain which is a good decision.
Thing is Rooney in someways wouldn't be a good captain because although he has matured into a great scorer he doesn't seem to be that inspirational leader who can carry out that bossing role which a captain should be capable of.
But that doesn't mean a striker can't be a captain and you just need to think back to when Shearer was captain of England he coped brilliantly at the role. If a striker is made captain they need someone at the back with a strong personality to help marshall the team, in Shearer's case he had Tony Adams in defence who could boss people around brilliantly, making it a good pairing. That is what would be needed now if a striker was ever made captain, a dominant pressence at the back to marshall proceedings as well.

I can not cope up with this. I don't like Rooney as captain. I think his temperament does suit the captaincy...........

Maybe you're right about the reason. Actually, I have been thinking about it too for a fair long time. I too think that a striker would never be the best captain because of the nature of striker's position. Still, there must be several good captain whose positions are strikers. One of them that I know is Alan Shearer. Regardless of his position as a striker, his personalities are very suitable for being a captain. So my point is the most important thing for a captain is personalities and wisdom. They have to be owned by someone who wants to be become a good captain. In my opinion, Rooney would never be suitable for being captain because his personalities are just a way too different. His personalities are suitable for predator, just as the way he is now, the predator of goals.
For England, from the first time when Beckham was retired as England captain, I would vote for Gerrard, not for Lampard, or even Terry. This is simply because Gerrard is more senior in terms of experience in high level football compared to both Lampard and Terry.
