I think it is not good to spend too much time on the work. Before I used to be an work alcoholic and used to spend around 18 to 20 hours at work. I think I missed a lot of good times and fun of life. Have you ever been a work alcoholic?

Oh, yes. Been there, done that. It lasted about 2.5 years for me. I love my job, but I woke up one day and realized how much my family was suffering because of the time I spent on my job - that led to some health issues, which had already been starting to show up because of the lack of concern I had for my health. I have missed out on a lot, and that is why I am here. I know that I cannot replace my income online, but I do hope to make enough to meet our needs (not wants) and then stay at home and care for my family like never before to make up for the times I was not there for them.

I have been a workaholic and when I look back i am continually pondering the idea that there must be a better way to manage time. Working 12 to 18 hours a day has it's benefits but at the same time, you loose precious time with family, friends and even just with yourself. We all need to time out once in a while. A couple days off a week when you are pulling long days and or nights just doesn't always cut it. All I can conclude is better time management which I think factoring in priorities would help. Life isn't all about work. Too much or not enough social time, family time and just quiet time can result in us feeling miserable. The time management thing is something I am finding myself constantly working on as I see the long days coming up again in the very near future. I don't want to be a workaholic but sometimes it just works that way because it seems a lot of time time that there is far more to do then there are hours in one day. That is when i wind up pulling all nighters. Then I feel run down for the next couple of days and completely unproductive. Again, time management. As if we don't get a good nights sleep and proper nutrition we can not be very helpful to ourselves, our minds get dull, our bodies get week and in turn we become far less productive than we could be otherwise.

Yes I have been. I usually work so crazily on my own projects that I would forget the time and to eat. But when I am working for someone else, I usually don't want to have a balance of life, I wouldn't work so late and I wouldn't bring home the work.

I am not a workalchoholic. I don't want to spemd hours and hours at work each and every day. I'd rather have some time to relax and refresh. But, I have a job now which requires spending many hours at my office. I don't enjoy that, and I am thinking of changing job.

ajithlal no indeed I have been there and done that, and all that happened was not enough to justify not having any fun at all in my life. then I was working when I met myhusband to be, and still worked too many hours.how ever when I got married I also got pregnant and after my son's birth I stayed home as long as I could til I had to go back and just work part time.

Sometimes we don't get enough time to have fun in our life.

Nope, that's not me. I believe in a certain amount of balance. There is a time to work, there is a time to play, and there is a time to do absolutely nothing. If we spent all of our time working, then we'd be pretty miserable. If we dind't work at all, there'd be no way to make a living.

I also think we should try to find balance in our life between work and family and friends and other things.
