Personally, I like the war movies that have something very special about them and aren't like all the other war movies. My favorite one of all time is Dr. Strangelove. I know it sounds weird, but I love the way it's put together and the comedic writing is genius. My favorite serious war movie is definitely Lawrence of Arabia, because I love watching the transformation of Lawrence into quite an amazing person.

Hmmm, yeah, Troy could be a war movie, and maybe Narnia Part 2, but that's stretching it a little bit. That's almost like saying the Lord of the Rings movies were war movies.

Hm...I guess troy could be considered a war movie...but I'm not so sure how some of the others fit in aside from the fact that they contain fighting...o.O

I loved "Glory" starring Matthew Broderick. It was about the 54th Massachusetts volunteer infantry in which black soldiers served. They weren't allowed to fight at first and didn't receive payment for serving until their commander dealt with it. Being a peace activist, I don't like war movies, but I thought this movie was about race relations rather than war.

We watched Glory in one of my history classes a couple years ago. That was a really good movie, especially because of all of the historical significance behind the story. Kind of like Windtalkers.

I really like the series Band of Brothers...it's about a squad of paratroopers during WWII. You should check it out if you have not yet seen it. Movie-wise, I agree with the person above me about Saving Private Ryan and Platoon. I also personally liked Windtalkers, which depicts the use of Native Americans in the Pacific front of WWII.

Yeah, I really liked Windtalkers as well. I never really thought about stuff like that until I saw the movie.

I loved Saving Private Ryan; but I truly loved because of the historical significance and all The Miracle at St Anna. The way that our African American soldiers suffered in the second World War at home and abroad just makes me holler. I have watched Dr Strangelove as well;

I would have to say Jarhead is one of the best ones I have seen in awhile. There are a lot more war movies out there that are good but that is the most recent one I have seen.

I think my favourite war movies are down to being born at the start of the 70s and so when I started to appreciate movies shown on TV there were two which were always being shown. The first is "The Great Escape" and the other is "The Dirty Dozen", both despite often causing people to groan when they hear they are showing on TV again are still as good today as the first time I watched them.

I like 'The Battle of Britain.' I've seen it lots of times, but I always find something new in it. Another favourite is an English film called 'Went the Day Well,' which is a very hardhitting film, made in 1944 or 45, about what might have happened if the Germans had invaded England. I prefer older war movies to the more modern ones, which can sensationalise and glamourise war.

Hello,
I liked many war movies. Liked movies like Saving Private Ryan, 300, The Pianist, Schindler's List, Troy, Gladiator and many more. Among all these 300 gave me the highest testosterone boost. The Troy filled me with wisdom and heroism. Saving Private Ryan instilled in me a sense of perseverance and of course Schindler's List and The Pianist made me look pathetic and at the same time induced humanism in me. I liked it very much when movies like Troy and 300 put a new dimension in war and heroism. I think these philosophies are equally applicable in real life. The message saying that if you quit you may keep your peace and pleasure, but if you stay and decide to fight, immortality awaits you, encouraged me to a great extent.
Take care
God bless you all
