I feel like they should open the border to Mexico! I think it is so stupid and it makes me so angry every time I hear something on the television about illegals her in the United States! They are just here to make a living because it is too difficult over there and they are doing it for their families I say what is wrong with that? I feel like they don't come over here to start wars like these terrorists that they really need to be focusing on NOT ON MEXICO!!After all Mexico used to be a part of the U.S. right? Does any one feel the same way as I do?

I don't know any country in the world willing to open the boarder, just because people wants to be in other country. People have choices and they can go to China, India or EU. Those countries are very strict about immigrants, less tolerate than USA. When I was sick, I didn't qualified for free medical care, but illegal immigrants did...just because they work for cash and they don't pay taxes... The issue is not as simple as you think. While I believe that most Mexicans are good , family oriented people, some are involved in crime and cause the problem....and if so, legal tax payers need to pay for their jail time. Not only, they have food stamps, law income housing and more. I have no idea how, but it wouldn't be possible in any other country. The money they make are in most part send to Mexico, so consumption is not in USA, but in Mexico. There are so many issues related to immigrants, and maybe majority of immigrants are from Mexico, but there are many immigrants here from other countries. Some of those people are working hard and yes, they pay taxes. I wouldn't mind to let some people to have residential status with work permission. As far as opening the borders I will say NO.

Great response! That's why I'm curious how this health care reform will work because if you go to our ER many of the people in there are illegals. And how much do they pay? Do they get forced to pay their co-pay upfront or be denied treatment as my family is? I couldn't afford the co-pay I had to put it on my credit card as they wouldn't take installments from me. But yet the costs of health care rise because we are treating illegals and they don't have to pay or they do not pay. And you are right many of them send their CASH wages back to their families in Mexico not to be spent here.

Exactly, ER is full of Immigrants. No co-pay, no force to pay. There is more. City of Chicago is running free preventive programs in public grade schools. The program is doing dental exam, cleaning and sealants for kids. The program costs taxpayers millions of dollars and most kids under the care are from illegal families. So many issues...

I see where the other posters are coming from in terms of letting people enter the United States from Mexico. I think there are valid points about seeing who enters and who doesn't. But I also see an unconscious feeling that the color of America will change. It has already been predicted that the majority of Americans will be brown skinned by a certain date. Some folks can't accept that. I can see where jahernandezrivas is coming from since Mexicans have been in Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Texas since 1821 and before when the Spanish empire owned the area. So in their hearts, those areas will always be theirs in spite of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago and the 1853 Gadsden Purchase.

If the border to Mexico were open then Mexico would have to become part of the United States. No Mexico was never part of the United States, Mexico wanted to claim Texas as part of Mexico. (that is where the history of the Alamo comes in) If Mexico were part of the United States, that might be a good thing, but since it isn't and hasn't ever been and is its own country the government there should take the responsibility and take care of their own people. (as it is, the US gov't can't seen to care for its own citizens.) When Mexico pleads to become a part of the United States and they pay into the tax system, that is when they should open the borders. It is not that they are saying that Mexicans are terrorists, it is that the terrorists are looking for easy ways to enter the US and that is one of the many, easy ways in.

I am sorry, but before we get into each others hair, let me explain. We have a serious problem with border crossings in our country, illegaly, and i know a lot of countries have the same problem. It gets overcrowded after a while. So, no, never should any border just be kept open. That is looking for serious trouble.
