Coupling: Beautiful Bond or Identity Theft

When it comes to relationship, we all seek love and seeking the one person that will express the love we want in ways we want it. I know Im guilty of that. So here I am just got out of a year long relationship realizing that being in a relationship, as beautiful as it is, can be somewhat of a path to loosing identiy instead of enhancing it.
How does one loose themselves in something that should be defined as the one thing that makes us whole? Is it because theres no balance or is it possible that we're seeking something more and instead of focusing on ourselves we tend to focus on the person thats closest to us. Our mates? What do you think?

It could go either way really, and depends a lot on the person and what they are like. That's why a person who doesn't know themselves shouldn't be giving any part of that stranger to someone else.
