Okay so I haven't been around mylot for a little while. We got a new computer and tried hooking up wireless internet. It was such a big pain in the butt. Yes we probably could of paid someone to come and do it all for us but we aren't rich. So finally I got my internet back. We were without it for about 3 days. I almost died. How long can you go without your internet without going crazy? Are you addicted? I guess I am.

Oh boy! I'm sure I'm 'addicted'! What frightens me is that there are changes coming that might make it more difficult to get that "Internet-fix". In the US, for example, there's serious discussion about charging money for use of the Internet. Not just having access (which we pay our ISP's now), but charging by how you USE the Internet. More time spent=more money spent! Certain sites or groups of sites might be restricted, unless we pay for "premium" web-access (like cable-TV?). I'm not exactly sure just how it's supposed to work; but I'm afraid it's likely to come, one way or another! If you live in the US, please let your Politicians know that YOU DO NOT WANT TO PAY MORE FOR INTERNET USE! They let us all get "addicted" for free...then they tell us we gotta PAY! Sounds just as bad as some street-crimes (if you know what I mean), to me!

Gosh I hope that doesn't really happen. Sounds like they planned it from the beginning huh. I live in the US and how do I "let them know". Do they not want poor people having the internet anymore.

Hi natnickeep, nice to see you around again. We are also running wireless internet too as it came with the internet application. I didn't know that it is that complicated hooking up the wireless internet. I may have given up much earlier if it was me who did it but fortunately my son is quite competent when it comes to these computer matters. I don't think life would be the same for me without internet. I am very much absorbed in the virtual world and no internet would paralyze me and might even drive me to insanity.

Yes me too. How long do you think it would take for you to go insane. A few days, a few weeks, how long could you go without?

It only takes me within 24 hrs of going without internet and I'll be pacing up and down the room without direction. That is the beginning of bigger worse things to come if am deprived further of internet connection.

I am lucky that I have never had to do without it at home. My son can help when there is trouble usually. When I travel I sometimes end up places where there is not any computer or access, then I usually have family around to entertain me and keep my mind off of the computer. Son hooked up the wireless when we got it.

I don't know how long can I live without computer, but I use computer everyday. Firstly I have a job and I have use it for my job, and then I stay in front of my pc after work for at least 4 hours per day. I have to play computer everyday but I can control myself. I know when it's time for bed, when it's time for dinner. I am kind of addicted.

Yes to me it is like a cup of coffee in the morning sitting here on my computer. Typing away to friends on the internet, checking out what the rest of the world is doing. People are trying to say that these days technology is making us less connected with the people around us and in our lives. But I don't believe that. I feel very connected with people from all over the world here at mylot and other places online too. The internet is a wonderful thing I say.

Oh I feel bad that it was such a pain for you to setup your wireless. good thing that mine was a breeze to setup. I do remember though when we tried setting up a wireless internet connection in my mom's office and we just couldn't make it to work, no matter how many times my boyfriend tried and reconfigured things. It turns out there was something wrong with the router! I'd give myself a maximum of four days without the Internet before going crazy, although honestly, I might break down after 24 hours, haha. I am so addicted to this!

Yes you just get to do so many things, talk to so many people. I love the internet too! Yeah 4 days and I think I might die. I almost did after 3.

I need my Internet because I use it for school as well as trying to make a little extra money on here. I know that when the power goes out and I am without the Internet I go crazy. There have been times when I have fallen behind in my school work because the Internet was down. My husband attends an online University and they are sticklers for things being done on time. If an assignent is turned in late regardless if the Internet is down or not he gets points taken off.

Oh I am 100% abosolutely positivly addicted to the interent and my computer. I cannot go a day without getting online and checking my facebook and mylot. My classes all require a computer as well so I am constantly on a computer. When I go away on trips I must have at least my mini laptop with me and must stay at a hotel that offers free interent access or I just won't stay...lol. So yes, to answer you question honestly...I am addicted to the internet and my computers!!

Yep it sounds like you are a major addict. I myself don't care to much for laptops. When getting this new computer my friend said why didn't you get a laptop and I was like um I just don't like them to much I guess. I don't know why. Maybe because I don't travel much. I guess if I traveled more I might want one. But anyhow you sure are addicted and I am too. Gotta check my mail, horoscopes, facebook and myspace everyday.

Yes I think our minds have gotten used to being occupied by something entertainment wise. So maybe we aren't addicted to the internet but just addicted to being entertained at all times.

We have wireless internet and i think it is great even though it was a bit of a pain to sort out as we have lots of pcs in our hose as well as some of them are in the bedrooms in the loft.It is easy to add new pcs as well as other wireless things, but to set up well lets say lots of stress was caused. My husband sorted ours out and it hated doing it.

I can go without internet. Not a big deal. No I am not addicted to it. There are so many things to do in life. If I stop using the internet, I'll just do something else.

It took you three days to hook up wireless internet? I was able to do it in under two hours. Of course I'm proud to admit what a tech geek I am LOL. So that probably has a lot to do with it. But hooking up wireless is simple its only as complicated as you want to make it x.x Anyway I've gone four dangs to stress over instead. So I have a reason to complain, I guess. Yeah we had no power and it was the middle of the summer so yeah.ys without net which wasn't so bad. Of course I had other thi

I also faced some difficulties and even called up technicians when I'm installing wireless modem. In the end, it's because of the problem with my desktop so I changed to laptop and installed successfully. Was a bit of hassle but quite glad that it was solved within an afternoon. I'm also quite addicted to the Internet and I don't think I can go without internet these days.
