A World Without Lies?

Yes, I just finished watching The Invention Of Lying, such a great film and I reccomend it to all of you.
So, down to my question, what do you think life would be like without the ability to lie? I know some lies can be better for everyone, such little white lies, but big lies will always come back and bite you, it isn't good to lie!
But on the other hand, would the inability to lie cause fights? If someone told you what they really thought about you, would you hit them? As things are at the moment, sure you would be angry with them. But in a life without lying, you don't even know what lying is, surely you would accept what they had said, because they can't say any different!
What are your opinions? (No Lies! :P )

lies have a role to play in this whole wide world, leehold... there are white lies, true lies (arnold's version) and a whole lot of other lies... some serve good ends, some advance more lies and evil designs... it's up to us, really, how to treat these lies that surely abound in our midst...

Hey,
I never heard of that film True Lies, but I just read the summary of it and it looks pretty good, I'm going to have to get this, so thanks for bringing my attention to it!
Sure, some lies serve good, but other lies are bad and can have catastrophic endings. What do you think about a world with the inability to lie (Such as in the film; The Invention Of Lying), surely not being able to tell the good lies compensates for not being able to tell the bad lies?

Hi Lee, your discussion is very interesting, in my opinion a world without lies is possible and all we need is the tlepathy ability.
If we can "read" others minds, and our thougths can not be hidden, there's a big chance to live in a world without lies.
All our sociaty will change, if your thoughts can be "read".
Great Discussion!
Take Care.

Heya,
Very good point you have here. Have you ever thought of what it would be like to have telepathic skills, to read peoples minds? I sure have and it sounds great! Sure it would be great to find out the truth, but also a bit of an invasion of privacy? Would you mind people being able to read exactly what your thinking?
There are people out there that claim to have a similar ability, psychic mediums. What are your take on theese people? True or not? I'm very skeptical of theese people, i've never been to see one, but I do see them on TV where they perform for an audience and the audience seems genuinly shocked at their ability to be able to say the things that no one else could possible have know. But you never know if theese shows have been setup.
Let me know your take on this :)
