Part 10
The reason why we find it so hard to see past the illusion is because our ego is afraid it will die. Consider ourselves being a lake or ocean, everything being a ripple or a wave on the surface and our true selves are below the surface. Everything in this dimension is existing on the surface, but is still connected to the vast consciousness below the surface. We make brief visits or dunk our head below the surface, (such as when we are asleep) to keep our souls, for lack of a better word energized and remind ourselves that we are still connected because the illusion is at time pretty strong. Now since all of our alternate realities are being played out all in the now as well as below the surface, when we sleep, or meditate for example we open our mind like a flood gate to connect to the bottom. As we do this we pass through and experience all those realities, but because our minds needs to label things to understand what something is, it perceives the realities as dreams, using figments of our imagination to make the connection to what we are seeing. Remember our minds are the ego, and the ego does not accept what it experiences unless it can understand it. If it encounters something it does not understand it tries to label it, if a label can not be found it will label it as very bad so we will try to avoid it at all costs, thus avoiding the un-label-able experience as a nightmare.
