A hypathetical situation for you to ponder on....
What if......Life as you know it now, got turned upside down, you lost everything that you had, you had to start over, You were not sure if you could make it or not, you were forced to take one day at a time.
How would you handle it? Would you give up? Or would you pick yourself up, brush yourself off and trudge onward?
The way the economy is today, sad to say that more and more people are finding themselves just in this spot. And we all think to ourselves, "Oh it will not happen to me" but what if it does? Would you be strong enough to do what it takes to make it? Would you need help? Something for all of us to think about eh?

well, dj, i live my life on a daily basis, just like responding to mylot... it is easier that way and less stressful. planning entails a lot of effort and may cause some frustration, should one fail. always dwelling in the past may also cause some stress. and when the whole world turns upside down, i'll still live my life the way i am living now: take each situation one at a time and don't try to do the impossible... things pass and problems without solutions are no problems at all...

I agree with the previous answers, I'd pick myself up. What's the use of grovelling in the dirt for what has already happened? Doing nothing won't return everything I lost back to me. If I work hard and keep myself focused, I could be where I used to be or even in a better place. Keeping in mind the things I learned due to the "turnaround," I would be able to avoid being caught up in future catastrophes.

Exactly! The existence of Change is a given. We should not allow it to dictate how we live our lives rather, we should live our lives to dictate how we let change affect us. We must adapt, lest we perish.
We learn through failure. Lets just make sure we learn what we have to in order for us not to repeat our mistakes.

I could never see myself giving up. I would have to find a way to get back on my feet and prosper once again. It would be a scary situation but that always makes us stronger for the most part. With pray anything is possible.

Actually, this has sort of happened to me. My life was going great. I had just moved to Chicago and every day was an adventure. I was loving life. Then my son was in a wreck. (someone else's fault) He is still recovering. I had to fly out to another state to see to him. His injuries were severe! I don't have a "home" as I still live with people. I also have lost my vehicle due to not being able to maintain his and mine. So I let mine go to keep his ready for him when he gets better. Life looks much different now. I have no idea how it will go from here. I am in the process of trying to move forward and pick myself up and go on! There is no room to give up! It's not an option, we just go forward no matter how difficult it is. Gotta take it one day at a time and deal with where you are right now.

...Hi DJ_Tazy, Welcome to the place where you meet and greet some nice people, enjoy. Well, hopefully you will have enough faith in your God and yourself, that you will believe that you will get through the ordeal. I went through a time where I had no money coming in on a constant basis, I had an accident. Had to go for four or five months on pennies. Luckily it was only me, no children involved which made it a little easier I guess. But it was painful, but I made it. It gave me knowledge that I could survive through almost anything, so I don't worry now. It would be just another test to prepare you for the next thing down the line. For one thing you can't look at the tangible things you have and count your worth based on them. You are what you are, the things you own are just that, things. Your health is also vital. You will amaze yourself, if you find yourself in an unbearable situation, what you are able to struggle through. We have strength through our faith, and intestinal fortitude which keeps us sane in times of crises. Take care.

God gives us many tests to see what our reaction will be. It is up to how we react to the tests that determine what will happen to our future. I'd like to think that I have passed all of life's tests, but I am by far perfect, and I know that I have failed some along the way. I am glad that you learned from your experience, for experience is the best teacher you have.

For me I think as long as I have family it will be easier to live on. Not because they'll be making the money but because they can support me if I feel like it's not worth it and want stop trying. They also share my pain and also share my joy.

Actually life is allowing us to get closer because of this economic turmoil. Sure there will be millionaires made who're actually studying every move right now predicting what is next but when the water is clear, we'll see who the survivors are. I believe it's a time of great gathering because we need each other more than ever whether it is support in thoughts, goals or the end of the world. This is the time for us to gather our human spirits and find Zion as they say.

That would be a disastrous set of circumstances and I'm not sure that I could cope with that. Still, the right thing would be to brush myself down and start again although this would take a lot of internal strength I think! Not everyone can do this some some really do give up the fight as it were! Still, as long as you are alive there is always hope I guess! Andrew Welcome to My Lot by the way!

I would rather pick myself up and move forward, for the world won't stop revolving even if you stumbled and fall. Life is a constant struggle, you might be on top today but what about tomorrow? If you want to succeed in life then you must constantly work hard to achieve your goals. There are times when you really fall hard face first but it is not an excuse to give up.. For if you do give up, life would still go on but this time its without you.. So pick up yourself and move on! =)

Well, I assume that in the situation, you keep all the skills that you've learned thus far...So I would say, I'd give everything another shot, especially if you know what you're doing and already have experience...it means you'll be more likely to succeed than if you had no experience or education at all. Of course, I think that I would probably need some help here and there, and help would definitely make getting back on my feet easier.
