Well as we all know Avatar has been out for almost 2months now. From what I have heard its hit the market in top 3 for the fastest growing movie. In my opinion avatar is a really good movie. Well the story line was not that good but the animation was excellent. I think its the best I have ever seen. Its been nominated several times for several aspects. Now the question comes. What do you guys think about avatar? Would you consider it a good movie? what dont you like about it or what do you like about? Give me a rating of 1 to 10. I would rate avatar 9 Because of the Animation and also beacause they made a 3D which was amazing!

I would rate Avatar close to 6 on a scale of 10. I saw Avatar in the 3D version. The visuals were not great for a 3D movie, though the sets were elaborate and the whole planet looked great, but there were no 3D frills. So essentially watching the movie on 2D or 3D was similar. Next up, the first half was so slow that it was almost watching a David Attenborough Documentary in Discovery Channel on the African Rainforests. The story itself was nothing great. So despite the hype, I would rate it an average 6 star rating. Cheers! Ram

Well I wouldnt rate it that low. Look at the animation. Compare it to other movies. Have you seen any other movie compare with it in terms of graphics? ya the 3D did not have much frills, I agree with you on that. But the 3d wasnt bad. Still remember when the leaves start falling on you. That was my first 3d film i watched. Im glad it was that cause Avatar is an awesome Movie!

I would recommend you to watch Polar Express to enjoy the frills that a 3D movie can provide and then compare it with Avatar 3D. Then you would really be disappointed with the 3D effects here. But having said so, I agree that the overall animation was good, so were the elaborate sets for the planet Pandora. But apart from that there was not much on offer in the movie. Cheers! Ram

Regular 3D frills aside the movie was great and BEST viewed in IMAX, you don't have many scenes where "hands" and the like are reaching for you except perhaps for the tear gas scene but every now and then you feel like you are there in pandora yourself. You are a part of the movie and moving with the scenery that what made it amazing and above regular 3D movies with ordinary frills. The reason for this is that the entire movie was shot with IMAX lenses hence best viewed in IMAX theaters for the full AVATAR experience. Admittedly the story was nothing new, same old story in a different setting. But you have to admit the effects were fantastic! You could not see the gap between fiction and reality (reason for its high budget). I think it should be better than a 6 just for this fact.

I watched the movie in an IMAX theater and I enjoyed it greatly, it would be a 9. the effects and the cinematography were fantastic however the story was not so great a little predictable... Actually, the story is like a remake, a sci-fi version if you will of Kevin Costner's "Dances with Wolves." Take away the American Indians, put in Aliens change the scenario from America to Pandora and TADA! AVATAR. Story 8 Effect were amazing, you feel like you are the one moving in some scenes not just your usual 3d effects. IT really is best viewed in IMAX rather than in ordinary 3d theaters. Much less in 2d. Effect and Cinematography 10 Hence the average of 9.

Im glad you got to watch the proper 3d version. Well even though the story was predictable I still found it ok. Have no seen the movie that you mentioned above but I would like to watch it and compare the two. Yes the effects are superb in Avatar. It seems some people have not watched it in IMAX theathers so there experience was not as great.

Hahaha its a really REALLY old film when Kevin Costner was still an A-list celebrity in Hollywood. It was really popular it it's day long movie just like avatar. Based on American History I believe. I hope you could get a copy and compare the story though at least you know where I'm coming from. But AVATAR was a really good movie experience.

I would give this movie a rating of 10 as it was fantastic and most enjoyable movie that I have seen in a long time. Watching it in 3d was even better and will definitely get this movie on DVD when it comes out. Everyone should see this movie as it did not disappoint in any way. I am so glad that I went to see this with a friend. The acting was great, love the story and special effects. It will be hard for filmmakers to top this movie.

I saw Avatar on Christmas Eve, so I managed to watch it whilst the excitement and initial buzz was still in full force. In terms of special effects and the 3-dimensional aspect of it, you can't get much better than Avatar, but for plot-line, acting and such, it was distinctly average. Therefore, I give Avatar a 6. It was good, and certainly above average, but it was nothing completely mind-blowing or new as far as actual film content is concerned

Finally saw it last night. I think all the hoopla last few weeks, about this movie was just fabricated by marketing strategy. I think the plot was simplistic. We can think of any indegnous people here in the planet, and sustitute it for the people in pandora, and we'll have the same tired old story. The graphics was good, but not a lot of things going on to justify 3D viewing. Overall, I give this movie a rating of 6 out of 10.

Yes the story was very simple and predictable. But i still think the animation was really good. Im sure you did not pay much attention to that. yes i agree with you that not many things were put in 3d but it still was a nice movie. I am an Avatar fan i believe. i would rate the movie higher then that but thats jus my opinion

Hey friend thanks for the response. appreciate it. Yes Avatar was awesome. At first when i saw that it was coming soon i didnt think it would be a good movie. Thought it would have been one of those movies which are useless and a waste of money. But luckily a friend wanted me to go with him. Im glad he told me to come with him because then i would not have wanted to watch avatar.

Hi, dh18111. I finally saw Avatar last week and it was a great movie. I fell asleep on the last 20 minutes of it. I would give it a rating of an 10. The entire movie was wonderful. The only thing that confused me was when, the characters would leap from place to place in this movie. I could never really tell where they were when they were flying on the bird. Overall, the movie was great. It was sad that he would have to return back to his normal life and that his fantasy with the woman was all an illusion.

I saw Avatar last month and I was very impressed with its visual and sound effects, oh gosh, it seems like real!I couldn't help but amazed with the expertise of its Director, James in Cameron, in special effects, that was utterly magnificent. The scenes where Sam Worthington's character would go to Pandora planet were breathtaking. I think this is a sure winner for visual and sound effects at the Oscars. The story also has an emotional touch because it talks about the mother earth and how should we take care of it and our surroundings, it was highly emotional as greed people forcibly cut trees and rampaged the lives of the natives. I would rate it 10.

The story? 4 out of 10. The story was not great. The plot can be easily deducted and no 'surprise effect' as other box office movie I've seen (Pirates of Carribean, Harry Potter, etc). The animation? Well, 7.5~8 maybe. It's like watching Final Fantasy Game set :D 3D? Too bad my city have no cinema with 3D support *sigh*

I will give it 9! Without a doubt the movie is great. The box office can explain everything. And for me, the most important thing is that I see a movie not a technical show! The fantastic technology is service for it. But a little short, the story seems like «Dances with wolves». haha
