We all know how much work it can be to keep your home nice, tidy and clean.
A good routine can help a lot when you are cleaning your home and therefore I thought it would be nice to discuss several routines, learn something from one another! .
This is my routine:
- Put clothes in the washing machine so it can run while I clean
- Put dishes in the sink with boiling hot water and soap, let them soak while I clean
- Changing kitty litter, put the garbage bag in my hallway
- Changing the garbage bag in the kitchen and take it to the hallway
- Dispose both bags outside
- The water is now cooler, so I do the dishes
- Dusting the whole place
- Vacuum / swiffer all floors
- Cleaning tables etc. with wet towl / soap
This does not include all things like cleaning the toilet, etc.
This is just a global routine with some highlights to explain how I try to manage my time as effectively as possible.
Any tips you would like to share? Please discuss!

I am not mentioning the times along with to avoid this to become a time table.
1. All of first I make my self ready for office.
2. Spend some with prayers against my let grand maa's picture.
3. Fill the pots of water for drinking and conserve the water for other uses in tanks.
4. Then I am supposed to be at office for next 11 to 12 hours.
5. Come back from office and take a bath.
6. Cook the food
7. Have my dinner.
8. Read any litterateur.
9. Enjoy some stuffs on internet on my laptop or watch a movie.
10. Good Night.

That's a very clear routine, thank you for sharing that. But the discussion was really about the routine people have when it comes to cleaning their houses. There is not one single chore in the routine you mention, allthough that could be because you work all day and perhaps someone else at your home is responsible for cleaning the house? Thank you for your contribution all the same .

With 3 days at work, 2 days at my internetship and one evening in part time college and the house to take care off I am happy with every free minute I have . You are lucky to have a housekeeper, so basicly it's his/her routine rather than your routine. No worries, I just wanted to point out that your reply was a bit off topic. Have a nice day.

I normally don't have a routine when it comes to house cleaning. I just get up in the morning while my husband is at work and my daughter is at school. I round up all the laundry baskets and fill them up with the dirty clothes. I take them down stairs start a load and take my dogs out for potty break. feed them then after they are done repeat the potty break. I start some dishes and I dust and put things away. I sweet my floors and mop them. I am trying to make the time to scrub my carpets but I haven't made it that far yet. With a 5 bedroom home there is a lot of cleaning to do. I just try my best keeping up on everything. Have a great day.

I agree; it's only logical that the bigger your house is the more time you will need to keep everything nice and tidy. I have a two bedroom appartment which is just fine for the two of us. Some people say they would want a bigger space, just living together, but the more space you have the more you need to clean! LOL!
That's one of the reasons I like my appartment, it's big enough but not to big and I wouldn't be using all that extra space anyway. So why pay for a bigger appartment if you have all the room you need? That way my routine can stay short aswell . Thanks for responding!

very true a smaller place can be easier to clean. But we just bought this place not even a year ago. So yes there is much more work to do in a bigger home like mine. And there are only 3 of us living in our house. We are still remodeling in some areas of the house to. So that is more cleaning for me lol.

I have a daily cleaning plan, a weekly clenaing plan and a monthly cleaning plan. Every day, I go through each room and pick up and put away anything that doesn't belong in the room. I put dirty clothes in the hamper. I wipe down the bathroom and kitchen counters. I clean up all dirty dishes and I sweep the kitchen floor. I find that way my house always looks clean. Each day, I completely clean one to two rooms in my house thoroughly. Then I have certain things that I do every month, like polish the silver and clean the windows. Last thing on the list is special projects, things that I do every 3 months, semi-annually or yearly like taking down the screens and cleaning them. It sounds complicated but I only spend about two hours a day and my house is always clean.

I don't think it sounds complicated at all LaurenInLA, it sounds like you have really thought this through and have come up with a plan that works well for you. If you plan everything right you can save a lot of time, and it sounds like you have because you only put in two hours every day. The things that need cleaning monthy are the things that are most easily forget in my opinion, and perhaps the annual things even worse.

Dear gowrix89,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my discussion. If I read your reply correctly you do not have a household routine or someone else in your home is responsible for it? Your routine consist of your college work and relaxation.
Getting those things done for college takes a lot of time and effort so I could see why you have little or no time to do household chores. I am in college aswell (part-time) but I do have my own appartment so I need to squeeze in time to do that aswell. Hope to get some good tips here!
Have fun mylotting!

I agree that cleaning can be a good exercise. Especially when you put on some music and twist your hips around for a bit aswell, lol! Cleaning your home whilst listening to music makes it more fun for me aswell. Time goes faster when you are enjoying yourself. Thanks for responding!
