Hi friends,Success is the thing everyone is struggling to achieve but why it is like that very few people achieve it.The best answer can be luck, but what about hardwork?Sometimes hard work also plays an important role,Many times a person is brillant but because of his/her laziness they don't get what they deserve. So what do you think? Which factor is important for success Hardwork or Luck?

I know a lot of people who became successful because of either luck or hard work. So for me, both are possible. I have a friend who is really really lazy, but became successful because of pure luck and good fortune. He used his parents' money to put up his business. He was lucky his business became a success and earned tons of money. I also know another friend who is really hardworking but earns only an average income. He is not that rich but also not poor.

You are right, sometime people got success purely by luck, even they don't hardwork. So i think both are equally needed.

...Hi there gracce, Welcome to the ranch, it's a great place to meet and greet. Enjoy. If you are striving for success, I think you need a little of both. You can get lucky and be at the right time and the right place, as they say. But if you don't take advantage of the situation and put your nose to the grindstone by working and possibly being creative, your luck will leave you in a lurch. Just today I turned on CNN to watch some of the "State of the Union" with John King, who had been a host of the show since it's inception, not too many months ago, and found that he was no longer the host. Candy Crowley is the new girl in town. I guess his ratings were not where the network wanted them, and he got sacked. They may have given him an evening job, but I would think if the show was doing well, he would have stayed. So luck yes, but hard work and staying focused on your goals should be on the agenda. Good question. Take care.

Success comes from mostly hard work. Now granted, being in the right place at the right time does tend to help a lot but it can only get you so far. There is just less hard work to be done, but the work still has to be done. Luck is a strange thing. There are times where people may think that they have luck but really they are just a bit cunning in being posited at the right time. Still, most if not all success comes from countless hours of hard work and struggle to get to the top. The rewards can be promising.

I have a great mathematical proof for that. We often say that hardwork will always bring you success. About someone else being fortunate we always comment "Wow, what a stroke of luck". Now I am actually combining these two in two simultaneous equations, Hardwork = Success................(1) Hardwork + Luck = Success.............(2) Substituting the value of "Hardwork" in equation (2) we get, Luck = 0 yes, friends. I believe if anything can bring you fortune it is Hardwork and Hardwork only. There is nothing called luck. When we label somebody as Lucky, we often overlook the hardwork he had behind his success. Hardwork increases your probability of success. God bless you

I just do hard work as it is in my control or I can improve it. And the luck can be changed indirectly only via Hard work only. So I think Hard work is more important, as the luck can't be with every one, but the Hard work can be done by any one.

Both. Success in life is hard work, but it is also luck as well. If you are in the right place, at the right time, then you will get a lot.

In a capitalist society we have to understand that the idea of "hardwork" may be more than motivation and execution. The "hard" part often comes in moral choices: do we choose to "destroy" another or live off the suffering of others to make our success. It is here where I feel luck plays a role: Without some luck, good people can miss out on the success they may otherwise deserve. Likewise, a person who has questionable morals can get lucky and find more people to take advantage of, thereby eliminating more people from a high level of success. Another problem, of course, is the definition of success. To some, laziness is it's own reward and laying around all day without a care is possibly a high level of success. Some people, particularly good at their jobs and hardworking, may be looking for some luck to allow them exactly that unique level of success.

Hardwork. If you want something, you go and get it; plain and simple. that's how that go.you plan for it, go for it and watch it work out for you. That is success; now with that hardwork, it can happen, but I tell you, there will be times when your plan doesn't work as you want it too, so be prepared for that eventuality; It could be that it wasn't meant to be, or that

I think this might be a bit of both. Luck and hard work, but of course, hard work will prove to be more important than anything else. Because if one were to rely on luck alone, I don't think it will work out like that. No success will be gained without hardship and that means hard work too. Long hours, being good at one's work and trying to improve the skills in that particular area of job or career. This is a good topic, and there have been lots of times when I was wondering along the lines of success of being purely luck or a mixture with traditional hardworking. With that said, I think some people whom are born in silver spoon have a special added bonus there because they have the resources to make themselves be good in the area skills that they would want to develop.

I think both are important but hardwork is the most important to me. For example, I have a summer job and I work my tail end off every summer. I got employee of the year and kept working hard. Then a supervisor quit and I got moved up immediately. I worked hard to get recognized but I would not have been able to move up had I not been there when a supervisor quit.

i think god has divided the hummun beings in to 3 different catageries. among the three catageries, one person who gets success, as there parents are successful, and the follow the same business or guidlines for success, we can say this " LUCK ". The second person who smark work style and struggle to get success, this persons are proved to be successful by their smart work. The third person, who only work hard, but don't show any creativity, so he fails to get success, we can also take an example of lazy person, inspite of having all the qualities of successful person, he don't try for the success. finally, i can say that luck, hard work, and luziness, all this play a vital role to get success.

Hardwork is the most important thing in order to be successful. You wont find a millionair who struck it rich by pure luck the got rich because of hardwork. If someone wants to be successful in life then being lazy wont get them any where. You have to put effort in to successed in any in life. Nothing is going to be handed to you in the real world. If you want to successed in life you dont have to work you havr to workhard or not work at all.

If success is a result of luck, then it's going to be short-lived. How long can the luck lasts? Won't be long for sure. On the other hand, if success is a result of hard work, then I think it's going to have an enduring effect. Look at history. There's no lack of successful people, for example, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Helen Keller, Mother Theresa, etc. How many of these successful people actually succeed because of luck?

For me its neither luck or hard work that leads to success but strength. Without strength we cannot walk towards the thousandth mile. Without strength, nothing gets done. Even if your hardworking but have no strength, its nonsense. Even if you have luck but no strength, just the same. Therefore only strength will help an individual accomplish success in his life and luck or hardwork is merely the compliment of strength. Everyone has their own perspective though.

But then also some time strength is not enough,Just take the example of cricket, batsman or bowler gives his best strength but sometime winning team win by 2-3 runs, that can be bad luck.

not to worry though, it is to give your best strength that is the main objective than to win the game itself.

It is a combination of both but I suggest that you focus on the things that you can do which is hard work. Eventually, luck or opportunity will present itself to you. When it does, you're ready to receive it!!!

i think it's a combination of both. 70% hard work and 20% luck AND 10% talent :) if you'll just sit there and relax, success won't definitely come. but then, even though you're working so hard, there are times that luck is against you. So luck is still an important ingredient. And talent, well, it helps you move to a higher level :) that's just my opinion.

I agree with you, but i think there is a bit more luck needed. When you want to have some succesful functions you have to be lucky that they choose you.
