How to connect two Laptops ?

I have two different laptops with Wi-Fi. but i am not knowing how to connect them both and exchange data between the two laptops.
Can any one help me with full step by step as i have no idea about networking. is the networking knowledge must for this ?

its simple,connect through desktop or wifi network and always you can share them with ease,it will ask for simple pass

It is necessary of having networking knowledge. You can do that with some tips. Go to control panel network setup wizard Next Select from the list of connection ( you get there connections) select wi-fi. then select the connection methods Next fill up the box of computer name ( different name for both computer next work group name Turn on or off the printer sharing as you like what you want. next.
I think your network is setup by this process. You can try.

since the laptops you have are wifi enabled,then it must have bluetooths.
its would be much easier if your going to used bluetooth. steps are lots easier, all you need to do is turn on the bluetooths on both devices, pair them up, and you can share data.
