xbox 360 connection not working

I recently hooked up my xbox through my laptop and it worked at first, but not it isn't working. I put all the settings to what they should be, but when I try to connect on Xbox live it says that the router isn't giving an ip adress to my xbox or it says that my xbox is using a static ip address. Does anybody know why it is doing that and how can I fix it?

hey, you shuld triy modem - router - xbox. works mutch better then modem - laptop - xbox :) and mutch simpler to setup
