Just as the subject states. Which version of Windows do you prefer? Personally I prefer Windows XP, and Windows 7 over Windows Vista. Yes, I realize that Windows 7 and Windows Vista are very similar. However Windows 7 is so much more stable than Windows Vista. Although I will say I prefer Windows Vista Movie Maker over what Windows 7 has which is nothing. I have yet to receive a BSoD (Blue Screen of Death for those of you that don't know) under Windows 7. I would like to try Mac OSX Snow Leopard, but for now, I'm a windows XP/7 fan all the way.

Windows XP was the best Operating System when it was released.. But now, I prefer using windows 7 as it is the latest in terms of interface, gaming support, compatibility etch. For a normal user (non developer(non programmer))... I suggest windows XP is the better choice - as it is STILL the OS with best third party softwares support. If you are a programmer or a developer, better don't use Windows at all.. Go for Linux. It is proving much better than windows in terms of stability, graphical interface and all this from a FREE SOFTWARE. or a more user friendlier (than linux) yet stable (than windows) option - Max OSX Leopord. But the mac OS is hard to reach as you get it only built in with the hardware.
About Vista : - I consider it as the worst OS I've ever used (I think it is better to switch to windows 98 than to vista). With all those bugs that can never be fixed, millions of error messages and counter warning and "END NOW" boxes, lack of compatibility, graphic interface features consuming lot of graphics memory, lots of stolen added interface features, worse in terms of security (you can hardly use it with internet without an anti-virus installed)..Windows Vista stands out as my worst choice. So here is the final list
1.Linux (interface is not friendly if you are not used to it, lack of third party softwares - doesn't matter if you are a programmer/developer yourself)
2.Max OSX (You'll get it only if you buy Apple hardware - which is expensive)
3.Windows 7 (Good gaming platform, awesome interface, not as resource thirsty as vista, better compatibility)
4.Windows XP (compatible with anything and everything)
5.Windows 9X (Old is gold)
1000. Windows Vista (I haven't used a worser OS)

I agree with you. I can't stand Vista. Although I couldn't stand Windows ME either. Both Vista and ME had issues. Hence why ME was called Windows Mistake Edition. I've used all varieties of Windows, and Linux, and so far XP and 7 stand out in front for me. Although I do have to run some games on my old XP box, because even the XP Mode that Windows 7 Ultimate comes with doesn't run it correctly. But that's ok... That's why I have two computers...lol

My vote is for Windows 7. Though windows XP ruled the market for a long time its time for windows 7.
Windows Vista is a flop, it got lot of drawbacks, which were corrected in windows 7.
In Win 7 Graphics are amazing, No connectivity issues which we find in windows XP. Copy - pasting of similar files/folders/pics have three options.
As for the movie maker, you can upgrade to 2.6 version.

LOVED XP, hated Vista, and now I enjoy Win 7 daily on my new laptop.
XP and 7 are the same to me. I can't love either any more than the other.

Windows 7 is great.
THe majority of webdesign needed softwares work on it ( all ive installed worked ) .
There are some compatibility isues with apache for example but its all right .. we can find something else to use instead of those.
I have some errors with explorer but anyway it is the best up till now.
