With the intention to buy clothes, you go to malls and find a choice. You like the shirt a lot but you notice that they have a lot of exactly the same shirt (material, color, style, brand) on display and available for sale to the public.
Do you like to buy that shirt with the possibility that you might bump into someone wearing the same shirt? Or do you have the habit of refraining from buying clothes that have so many of the same kind in stock as they become "too common"? Or do you like to be "unique" and buy clothes which do not have a "twin"?

There are very few things that I will buy when there are a lot of them available. One of the things that I do buy even if it is common is jeans because it is difficult for me to find a pair of jeans that fits me really well. As far as shirts and shoes go, I tend to be more unique in my choices of those because there are more styles that are fitting for me of those items than there is for me in bottoms.

Hi Dorannmwin,
That is a wise move. Sometimes we need to do things to grab a rare opportunity. That happens to me as well.
I buy things to fit my personality and my choice should be one which is different from what is widely available. I bought a bag last week and I was happy because when I asked for another one of that particular bag which was not on display and "untouched" by customers, the saleslady told me that they only have one bag of a style. I was happy with the thought that I was the only one in the city with that bag ... I just have to believe what she said. Maybe the truth or part of their sales strategy? whatever ... lol.

I have been buying my clothes at H&M for a long time. They always have everything in 10 colors. So, at first, I only bought one color. But then, after wearing it for a year or so, I found out that these clothes are really durable, since they haven't changed a bit from the first day, so I went and bought some more. Since at H&M and Zara they offer another selection of colors every year, there's really a lot to choose from. I have three or four pairs of the same shirt in my closet, and I'm really happy I have them because they were cheap and they are very good clothes. So when I see someone wearing the same clothes as I am, I'm not angry or anything, because it's not the pieces that you're wearing but it's the style that you create with them. If I had a million dollars, I would probably want to be unique, because I would have the money for it. But right now I can spend 100 euros on a Desigual shirt that is unique and weird, and often not worth its money, or I can spend 10 euros or less and buy a shirt that I know it's going to last for many years.

Hi Tanchyka,
That is very practical of you. We need to be practical at times. We choose to go for cheap but durable items. Why spend more for something when it is not worth the money?
There is no problem seeing someone wear the same shirt as we do. To me, it would mean that more people like that particular shirt and it must be good!

I am not one that likes to buy the same things in most cases. The exception to this is jeans. I do have a few kinds of pretty similar jeans. But the main reason for that was because one if a bit tighter fit than the other.

Hi Ladygator,
You are saying you do not like to buy the same things of the same kind for you, right? It is better to have a variety because then it would become monotonous to be wearing the same style.
I was asking if you want to buy clothes whose style, color, etc. are the same and which there are so many of it in stock or on display in the store. Buying ONE, there would be a possibility that you bump into someone with exactly the same shirt, for example, as you are wearing. That I would like to know from this discussion.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a nice day.

Not long ago I read an interesting article about "shopping in your own closet", so that is what I've been trying to do. Because 'm short in statue, I have more skirts and blouses or slacks. The article suggested that one try mixing the separates up and pairing them with different partners. When doing that, I'm not very likely to see someone else wearing exactly the same outfit. When I do find it necessary to go shopping, I check the thrift shop first before going to the mall. Should I find what I need at the thrift shop, it is doubtful that the next person I see will be wearing the same outfit. I try to stick with the classics that never go out of style.

Hi Bellis,
I like that ... "shopping in your own closet". I know there are lots of dresses which we just ignored for long. For practical and other reasons, it is wise to mix and match wardrobes. It is a personal choice and it is very likely that you meet someone on the street with exactly the same shirt or dress.

Hi Bingchen,
It really depends on one's choices and moods. There are colors that enhance our beauty and we choose them at times. We can always opt for other colors if one color is dominant in the large supply on stock in stores. Thanks for sharing.
