Do you have some plans to set aside part of your regular earnings and extra income as savings? If so, how will you do it. I am planning to save some so that at the end of 2010, I can say the I really have savings. Sometimes, I just spent money withouth thinking of some savings. My salary will just automatically goes in the my bank account. Then I am using debit card sometimes check. I sometimes sent money to Phils for my siblings education.

Welcome to MyLot, let me assure you that it will pay you.It have paid me every time I have earned my minimum payout. For three years. Your account has to be $10 by the end of the month, then automatically it will be put in your PayPal by the 15th of the next month. Add friends, post responses, write a few discussions, comment on responses to your discussions and you will earn your money. Make sure that if you write a discussion it is actually something to discuss, so that you do not get your "discussion" deleted.

I designed a budget for myself and began living by it in September 2009. It's now early 2010 and I'm relishing the fact that my budget worked so well and enjoying the fact that I have no money worries. It took willpower but in the end is soooo worth it.

Good job Allie!
Can you share some of your strategies or design as to how you manage your budget? It's hard to get started. Good for you!
I hope I can make my own design too and live with it.

Oh definitely, I even wrote about it in my blog yesterday, if you want to check it out it's at verabear.net :)
We have plans of getting married by end of this year and we need to save up for that. Apart from it we also have other things we'd love to be able to buy, and a mini vacation that would be wonderful to go to. :)

Oh that's a very good reason to keep motivated to start savings. Getting married is so expensive these days. Even if you want it simple but you still need to spend. A vacation is worth saving for. Work hard and make some money and save. That's one good way to earn.

Sure, I always save my earning, both from online and my main job. My salary also transferred to my bank account but I don't spent it all. I always save my money even for a little bit. I have two children and wife. I will never know what happen in the future.
I have two bank account. One for may main salary and one for my online earning. I opened the second account just a few days ago. I make it separately because I want to know clearly my online earning. Saving is a good habit. You will take the benefits in the future. Take control your expense from now!

Hello there.
You are great and organized person. Your response, enlightened my thoughts about separating online earning income from salary income. This is a good idea and not to mix things up. This way we can monitor money easily.

Hahaha. I laughed with your response. Are you serious with this? It reminds me of my attitude too. I did not savemany time in my life and did not worry about anything and if problems comes, that's the time I need to get serious and started to worry about it.

We're following Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover to pay down our debt and put away money - it's a great plan! You can find out more on http://www.daveramsey.com and can order his tapes and books there.

Well, I'm certainly trying but it's not that easy! I'm kind of hoping that I strike it big on the Euromillions lotter otherwise I don't think I have any chance of getting into some serious saving. I suppose there's every opportunity to save the income you make from My Lot but I struggle to make even ten dollars! It's something though and when it goes into my paypal account I can just keep it there to fester and hopefully grow! My Lot is the best site I know for achieving this. I want to save something this year! Andrew

That's the plan! No luck so far. Expenses are higher and it's one emergency spending after another... It's early days yet though, so I'm still hoping. We can tug our belts tighter actually, find more earning gigs... Frugality has really become a science around here.

Yes I would love to be able to finally be able to get some savings put away but it's not always the easiest thing because life can be expensive sometimes. I'm trying to save a good amount of my online earnings and hopefully begin to start putting my paychecks from work into the bank as well.

That is the best motivation for your to start saving your money, in preparing your child's birth. Thinking about not buying unnecessary things would be a great idea to save money. That's one thing we should consider doing.

I have started a new way of saving money. I clip a lot of coupons and find items, groceries on sale. What i save on each trip to the store is what I put in savings. Today I saved over $20 on my grocery bill and that is what I put aside. It doesn't seem like lot but if you go the store a lot like I do then it definitely adds up.

Trying real hard to save money this year. It always seems like when I have alot of money I have fix or spend the savings on something. It is getting harder to raise and save money. This year really going to buckle down and put my extra income in a savings

definitely! i'm getting my first job soon and I'll try to save as much money as I can. I'm also from the Philippines and I'm graduating soon. Sometimes, the key is just spending your money wisely and maybe investing it in assets which can yield to greater returns :)

Hello there! Thanks for your response. And congratulations on your graduation. good luck to your new path.
Spending money wisely is easily said than done. But I will try my best to be extra careful in spending hard earned money and see if I can really save at the end of the year.

It may be a challenge, as I quit work in January, but mostly my money was "extra money" anyway. I plan to give a full tenth of our income to God, and still believe we can live off of what we earn. It will also depend on what my health insurance costs when I get it. I have preloaded a credit card for things I need to pay on online, offers etc. in case I cannot use Pay Pal. It does not have any interest on it. All the extra money I have gotten this month has gone into a savings account, and I have some in my PayPal right now. It pays interest, but I think my bank pays more interest. I will transfer it soon. I work online doing some freelance writing and it pays to my Pay Pal.
To make sure I am saving money I am eating out less, paying bills on time so there is no penalty, using coupons when I shop or shopping in bulk. I download my coupons on a site that gives me points, and I trade those points in for shopping cards. I am going to try to sell some things online.I stay out of the stores as much as possible.
Sometimes when you work too much, you do not have time to pay attention to how you are spending money. I have more savings now than I have in the last five years.

Hi, Aloha.;-)
This is something I have been planning of doing as early as I can remember, the 90's, I believe.LOL
I'm not getting any younger and I already have a family of my own so it is important for me that I save an amount that will be used for my children's future.
Right now, I am saving at least a thousand bucks from my husband's earnings. The money is left untouched. I have a couple of online earnings, too that remained untouched and I'm planning to make it stay that way.
Here's with the loose coins, every P5 and P10 coins go into the coin bank and once it is full my daughter and I will deposit it to the bank. It is my way of teaching my toddler how to save at an early age, too.:-)
Goodluck to you and always be safe.:-)

I have been doing this ever since I was working. I set aside around 10-20% of my monthly salary and keep it in a savings account preferably without an ATM so I won't be tempted to touch it. I might plan to set aside some savings in a time deposit so it would earn extra.
I suggest that you keep some for yourself in case of emergencies such as getting sick. One of the problems of being an OFW is that they do not set aside extra money if just in case something goes wrong (or knock on wood, cannot get employed abroad again). My father was formerly a seaman and their company set aside some funds for them.

Saving money is one off the top priority agenda in my list for this year. I do not have much savings from last years and now the time has come when I have to save money for future. Living in present is very good but saving money for future is more important as we do not know what would be the rate of inflation when we grow old:)
