Hello friends,i saw this news item on one of the tv news channels a couple of days back. Our Sun goes through a cycle of sunspot activity roughly every 11 years. In 2012 this is going to be very much at its peak. When it happens fierce solar winds will fan out from the surface of the Sun and will approach Earth. Normally such activities do happen now and again and are rebuffed by the Earths atmosphere causing no harm. However this time in 2012 it is expected to be so strong that satellites revolving around the Earth could be affected in a major way.If this happens then all telecommunication systems around the world will be badly affected. Phone lines, mobile phone services, computers, train services run on electricity, airplane and airport activities, lights, airconditioners etc will be the major sufferers. There could be a complete black out everywhere. Imagine that a plane is about to land and suddenly the pilots talk with air traffic control gets cut off. What will happen. He will not get any guidance and there could be disaster especially on major airports where planes land and take off every minute. Its an awful scenario.Such an occurrence had taken place in Canada around 40 years back leading to a major black out.Scientists are gearing up for such an eventuality and trying to see that activities around the world are not affected to much. What do you think?

Hello Doll
When I was a small child in the 50's
a group of people passed by our home in the country
in a caravan of cars and pickup trucks...
They had a sign on a large truck saying repent
go to the mountains and pray...the end is near...
Well guess what? It wasn't then...nor was it in the 80's when
there was alot of hype about it...
Point is that when it happens or if it happens we have no control..
Best not to waste time worrying about it.
I have made my peace with God so whatever happens is just fine.

Yes, there are a lot of things that supposed to be going to happen to the earth in 2012. As it is in the future, the only way we are going to know for certain if there is any danger, is when we actually arrive in 2012. As there is nothing I can do about future events, I tend not to worry about them. I like to read about them from time to time, and then it will be interesting when that year arrives to see what it true and what is not true. _Derek

Yes, the only reality we have is the here and now. And the moment we get to experience the here and now, it is gone. This is all there is. In Zen we talk about the One, as in truth all is One, all is now, but us humans have a habit of fragmenting life into many, many compartments, and we have the illusion of the "other". _Derek

Well this is different from the Mayan Calendar which also happens on 2012 as they say. I think there is another catastrophe that is linked with 2012. Well I do hope that it won;t happen but if it does I think it is nature at work. We cannot stop that from happening as even the first world becomes victim to these and they cannot do anything at all because it is mother nature working.

As for me, I really do not want to anticipate it coming. I think if it will happen it will happen and I think I would just be wasting time if I would wait and anticipate for that year. Like what the poster above says just be at peace with God and no matter what happens in 2012 I am ready to face my creator.

I think this is just another in the long saga of the "world coming to an end in 2012" emails and rumors floating around lately. I don't think this is really true. I can't find anything to support it on the nasa or space weather sites... that things will be "affected in a major way". ah well, we will see...

Yes, we shall wait and watch, but mind you a similar thing happened in Canada some years back and it had nothing to do with prophesies or predictions of any kind. It was a purely natural occurrence just like a solar or lunar eclipse. However we shall come to know when 2012 arrives.

Hi I too have heard of such news.. Scientist say that our earth will enter the photon belt that time and also it will be bit closer to sun so we are exposed to such solar flares.. yes this might effect various activities of our daily life.. Lets see what happens..

I have read some artiles in Science website. In 2012,the sun's activity is more than last years, the article shows that the most bad effect is to our power system.without power suply, our life will be mess.let us image:our telephone can't work, cellphone has no signal, gas station can't fill the petrol, transportation is confused, almost anything is really out of service.so I think we should buy some food, water, and fuel, and if those things happens unfortunately,we could stay at home.

God has nothing to do with this. This is just a natural phenomenon like the solar and lunar eclipses. superstitious people say many things but these events do happen time and again are not undr control of humans since these are natural occurrence.similarly sunspots appear time and again on the surface of the sun. Generally they pass off without much ado but this time it may cause disruption of electrical power on earth.I would advise you to read about sunspot activity on the sun and learn how it affects the earth.

the natural phenomenon that are you saying are God creation,so why you say that God has nothing to do with this,?your life my life and all what happens to us are God creation.this is what he planned for.all is this are planned.if God don't want to hurt us,he can if God want to hurt us he surely can.so God is the source of what happen to us.

I really don’t know what to say! First and foremost, most of what the scientists say go above my head so its best left to them to speculate and find a solution. I’m sure with so much at stake, they will come up with something. Secondly, we’ve had so many alerts before without the expected consequences that I don’t really know how much to believe…just see about the Himalayan Glaciers and Pachauri’s report! Thirdly, a black out is better than complete oblivion….I mean the Mayans had predicted a complete destruction of the earth…so this is slightly better LOL

Prepare for the worst but hope for the best is what I always say. If there is nothing I can do about something, I refuse to worry about it. It may not happen and if everyone spends the next two years worrying about this that is simply two years wasted. I'd rather be enjoying myself.
I think the world needs to stop relying so heavily on computers or at least have back-up plans in place for when the computers fail. I could live quite nicely without everything being computerized. Oh, I'd miss the internet but I could live without it and still be happy.

I'm thinking that I won't be taking any flights in the year 2012. Scary stuff, however I just wonder if its just like how they made a big to do about the year turning from 1999 to 2000 and not a thing happened. I think most of the time there is so much more hype about things and nothing ever happens. Its like they want everyone to be scared all the time with all the nonsense that they like to feed us.

i find that many criticism like this always reported everyday.for example the earth would be destroyed in2010.but anything would happen in the eath.so i dont believe this criticism and only make someone panic for this thing.the earth has exist for many years and dont see big affair appear and threat the person's life.if they have ability,i hope that they use their intellegence to invent advanced spacecraft and send our nomral person into the month living.

You seem to have misunderstood what i have written. The earth will not be destroyed. It is a scientific fact that Now and again sunspots appear on the face of the sun, generally after a gap of 11 years. The next one is due in 2012 and is expected to creat great disturbances in the earths atmosphere resulting in loss of electrical power worldwide. All this will affect sevices in amajor way causing trouble to the general public.

This is very interesting to read about. I've told my husband time and time again that I don't think that the world is going to end in the year 2012 but I think that something is going to happen in the world that is going to make us think of things in a much different way than we have in the past. This that you've mentioned could very well be the event that is going to happen in the world in 2012 that is going to change the outlook of people in general.

No I'm not aware of this. If ever these things will happen I would just leave everthing in the Lord, since I have faith in Him I wouldnt fear. But as a caution, atleast we must be prepared for the things that might happen.

I've heard a lot of stories with the same message: earth destruction. It's really scary thinking about what could happen. Several movies were produced and suggest different ways on how it would be like. But nobody really knows. I think the best we can do is to be productive and make the most out of our stay here on earth. Whether it's the end of the world or not, we should take care of our planet and stop exploiting and polluting it. Let's think about today.. and the things we can do to help our planet in our own little ways. We won't benefit from scaring ourselves about the future. ;D

Don`t worry the earth will not be destroyed, nor have i said anything like that. Sunspots are regular features on the suns surface, only this time they are expected to be more than usual which may cause solar winds of extremely high velocity to strike earth causing disruption of all power generating activities leading to calamitous situations.

I’ve heard different theories and I guess the bottom line is that we have very little control of what may or may not happen in 2012. Aside from avoiding any flights I don’t see what we can do. If what you say is likely I pray that the experts will find ways to prepare for the disruptions. I leave it all to the Universe and you never know it may well be all fine. No point worrying unless we can do something constructive.

what are they saying was only a human prophecy.maybe they say this to make them star.right.from our age now there's no such a prophet that can say what happen tomorrow or the other day.if you believe in God you don't believe what are they saying.their intelligence was not that far than Gods intelligence
