I've always been a big movie fan and I've seen probably thousands of movies throughout my lifetime but I've recently come to realize there are still many major film I've yet to see, for one reason or another. Since I can no longer work and have more time to watch movies and I now have my beloved DVR and all of the premium movie channels, I seem to come across one or two a day that I feel I MUST see at some point. Award winners, critically acclaimed movies, huge blockbusters...I'm amazed each day at some of the big ones I've somehow missed.
I've started to correct the problem and I've also decided to make a list of "Must-See Movies" which includes very old, classic films, new releases and everything in between. I'll put those I've seen in one column and those I still "must see" in another an update it as I go along. I'd like to add that for some of you what I'd consider a "newer" film may be a very old classic but I guess that's because I'M a very old classic...lol!
Among those I consider worthy of my list which I've recently moved into the "seen" column are:
The Deer Hunter
The Departed
Forrest Gump
Heathers
Lolita
Pleasantville
I'm sure I'll think of more as I go along here, with your help!
Among those I "must see" are:
Ben-Hur
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Citizen Kane
The Green Mile
Philadelphia
Singin' in the Rain
Terminator
I haven't counted any of those movies still in theaters or those that have recently or have yet to be released on DVD. As you can see, once I compile my list with all of the other top movies I've seen through the years it's going to be a very long one!!
Do you have any to add?

I have missed so so many movies over the years. One great one that I always heard about and never watched was "the graduate". It was in the last few years that I finally stumbled upon that and decided to watch it. Another great must see movie classic is Alan Alda's "Same time next year" I may have the title wrong. It may be "Same time next summer" or something like that. It was a good movie though. Black Sheep with Chris Farley , The Jerk with Steve Martin. The Notebook...you have to see the notebook!

I have seen FOREST GUMP, it is actually one of my favourite movies. Try LEgally Blonde too. MEET THE ROBINSONS, and SHORTCUT TO HAPPINESS. I love those movies.

I cam across a movie called "Knowing" with Nicholas Cage, I was not to enthused when my friends wanted to watch it but did I get a shock. It just got better and better. I was riveted to my chair. It is a Sci-Fi thriller and I really recommend it.
You can watch a trailer/preview on the following link.

Great list! I saw Casablanca, just a few weeks ago but I'd seen it years ago also and Schindler's List is already set to record. I added some new ones to my list of those I've yet to see since I started this.
I think I saw some of the others on your list but it was DECADES ago!

I am a movie finatic. I like vintage movies and newer ones. I enjoy romance, comedy and horror mostly. If you like horror flicks afew to see are: The Saw movies( six now I think), Wrong turn, Schindler's List,Silence of the Lambs, Interview With The Vampire and 13 Ghosts. Then the romances would be: Ladyhawke, Dances With Wolves, Terminator 1, Somewhere In Time, Murphy's Romance, The Goodbye Girl, The Mirror Has Two Faces, The Notebook, and A Walk To Remember. Now for Comedies: Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men, and Big. And afew in mixed categories that I feel are must sees: Last Of The Dogmen, The Gangs of New York, Radio, and so many others. Happy filming!
