How much talented and powerful you are in the kitchen?
I mean, if you get a call, and you know that in just 2 hours you must cook a meal with what you have in your refrigerator right now, don t have time for shopping...what you will do?
Because you don t have money to command a pizza or chines food, or something else; you must cook a meal for your visitors just with what you have in your refrigerator;
You need talent, imagination, some skills in cooking, and 2 hands(maybe 4, if your husband want help you)and must cook something from NOTHING.
Creative cooking, this is the secret, you must cook all what you want if you have imagination;
If this hapened to me, i mean in just 2 hours, in my house will come some visitors, and i must cook a fast meal, i ll be ready just in 2 hours, no more no less; a great pizza with all what i have in refrigerator, some spaghetti with chicken, and pancakes filled with ice, top with whipped cream and chocolate sauce, ...
Sound good for you? just in 2 hours, just with what i have in my fridge...just one preoblem, i will call them to say that they must bring the wine, red one,
So, how much talented you are in cooking something from Nothing?

I love cooking but I am a type of cook who needs to be prepared. That is the reason I have no talent for being a chef. It takes me hours just to chop the vegetables, meat, etc. I am also not that confident so I always need to have a cookbook with me. In that situation you mentioned I guess what I can just prepare in two hours would be a special Tuna Sandwhich, carbonara, fruit salad and french fries cheese flavor. :)

That's something I need to learn. :) I love to cook but I'm not that confident in doing experiment. I've been planning to take a cooking lesson but don't have time for it. It has been a plan for almost three yers now and is still a plan. It seems like I will never have a time because of the kind of work I have plus I'm now going to have two kids. My mom is good in cooking, as well as my grandmother and aunt. They have a catering business and they always know how to give a twist into a normal meal or food. That's something I never learned from them because I don't have any interest in cooking when I was still in highschool. I got interested in cooking when I'm already in College and during that time I'm always away from home as my school is in another city. Miles away from home. I get to see them only during sem breaks and summer vacation.

I surrender. I can't cook anything out of nothing. At least the basic ingredients must be there to start off with. I can substitute an ingredient if it is unavailable but to ask me to cook from nothing is near impossible. No matter how creative a cook is, he will become handicap when he finds he is faced with nothing to cook.

Oh you are so talented and resourceful! I cant rustle up anything so nice and exotic…in any case ingredients required to treat guests are not always available at home so if I couldn’t shop, then I would have to do with plain and simple food. Rice as the staple would be there of course alongwith that some pulses, vegetable curry and egg curry too. I think that’s all I can do *sigh*

Thanks, i really like to cook, I like to cook creatively to invent recipes, mix them, look very good also, perhaps living in a fairly isolated area, and because we havefruits and vegetables always fresh(or frozen in the winter) from my garden helps me, helps me a lot, yes, I have imagination, and even i do it with pleasure.
Simple food is the best. but sometimes simple food can be very complicated too, depend how look like, what ingredients do you use.

I can cook something from nothing. I love cooking. Any food that is around I can create a meal. Of course, if there is no meat, that is fine by me, I can still make a meal, but some people do want meat.
Handy ingredients that lay around the kitchen that can be used are rice, frozen, fresh or dried vegetables. Pasta can be used. Maybe a tin of tomatoes. Herbs and spices are great.
Even 2 minute noodles can be put to good use.
I may create a casserole or stir fy, or mince meal.

I think you're a woman who really likes to cook for the family ( I realized this from the answers you give), so you're right, I can cook with or not meat , but my sons love meat, they usually say "THE BEST VEGETABLE IS MEAT)... joking of course, but because they work and learn at the same time they need more protein and more sweets for energy. And all time i try to cook what they like more; they adore to come home, in the weekend and say when enter in my house; ok,..show us your surprises now...

You know, this talent to cook something for the family to see them smile when you put something on the table, comes from experience and the love for family, in my life i do not know if I 100% after cooking a recipe, always change something, add something What I like, always something is change it.

Hey icesmile! Sounds like a great meal to me! I would have to
go with spaghetti and meat sauce! I always have a bunch of
burgers made up in the freezer that I can defrost real quick
and put them together to make a meat sauce! And I have some
steamfresh veggies and biscuits and I'm good to go! I also
usually have some kind of cake too and whipped cream so I
think the meal would be pretty good for a 2 hour warning!

My mother is a wonderful cook. she can make something up and have it taste restaurant quality. Her mother was 100% Italian and taught her eveything she knows. My mother passed it down to me. I am not quite there yet but practice makes perfect. She can create things just by tasting it in the restaurant. She will take a bite and say, "I can make that." I hope to be able to cook just like her once I get more cooking under my belt and with time.

Well usually i always have some type of meat and maybe some noodles so i would be fine if that is all we had because i could make some pasta dinner. We usually always have corn or maybe mushrooms and we could cook a pasta dinner with a type of meat, noodles and throw in some mushrooms and spices and we would be good to go.
This might be hard for some people, but i always have something to cook and yesterday i didn't take anything out for dinner and had to defrost some meat in the microwave but at least dinner was made.

I believe that I ave the ability to cook well, given te proper work environments. I could walk blindly into the kitchen right now, and grab a bunch of things that would then be transformed into a meal. I don't think I could do that if I only had a few eggs, a stick of butter, and some Flam.

It is interesting, but if you have imagination, and you love to cook, and take everything as a relaxation, not as hard work, is many easy to cook something fast with what you have in your house, and very quickly, and you can do a joy to your family and friends for a friendly dinner.

In 2 hours you could do quite a good pizza yourself with a bread base.
Chicken and pineapple topping .
Today was curry with chicken ,tomatoes,carrots and onion.
You can tell we eat a lot of chicken.
My husbands sometimes will look in the cupboard and say oh what are we having there isn't anything .
LOL but there is ,it is just all raw ingredients that need combining first.
We don't eat a lot of cakes or puddings but sometimes I do fruit crumble.
